Running shoes*, trail shoes, tennis shoes. I guess I can't opine re: b-ball shoes.
*alright, I'll admit it: I ran Boston in Nike Skylons, but I'm really embarrassed about it. It was one of my most painful purchases.

Speaking of airbrushing/bodypainting/etc., there are a bunch of topless swimsuit models with their breasts painted on www.cnnsi.com . Man, they must airbrush the hell out of those photos to remove all the nipples and other obvious visual cues that there are naked breasts. Ahh, puritanism.

So how was everyone's VD (Valentines Day, not vagina dentata, though perhaps both)? Speaking of Freud, I went out to dinner with -- my mother! She happened to be in town on business, so we met for dinner. Restaurants don't seem to get that there may be some non-VD celebrating diners, although the complimentary rose and poloroid picture were nice. Of course, the best part was after dinner, but I don't want to get fringe too excited so early in the day.

I was thinking that Mr. really shouldn't be using any phrases that begin with rim.
My VD (Valentines Day not venereal disease) was quite good thanks. I made dinner for the Mrs and we had a quiet, romantic evening at home. Something I hope you didn't do with your mom, Oedipal boy.
I could use some advice on gift giving. My first anniversary with Mrs. Eaze is next week. Mrs. Eaze is taking me somewhere for the weekend as her gift to me. I want to buy her a present but I really don't know what to get. I explained my problem to her, but she begged to differ when I said she was hard to buy gifts for. She said she is easy to buy gifts for and I should know what she wants already. I agreed with her that I knew she wanted a playstation or an IPod, but that those would be better birthday or christmas presents because they aren't particularly romantic. She agreed that these gifts are not particularly romantic but she had no advice for me on what to get her. She's not into jewelry so that's out.
Any ideas on good first anniversary gifts?

It sounds like tangible items are out. What about a romantic surprise getaway, like a weekend in the Pokonos or something like that?

I really love it when women are topless with their breasts painted at concerts, clubs, festivals, etc. I don't stare or anything, though, because they are kind enough to be showing off their breasts in a non-"I'm flashing you so you can stare at my tits" sort of way.

(Is this the way you talk?)
You should get her a gift. It shouldn't be an unromantic gift. Some examples of unromantic gifts are ipods and playstations. The Mrs. would probably like an ipod or playstation. But, the Mrs. would agree that these are not romantic gifts. Your gift should be romantic.
Good God.
Notwithstanding the fact that your writing style makes my eyes bleed with the deep, dark, rich blood of boredom, I have a solution to your problem.
If you go to the Apple website, you can get an ipod mini in her favorite color and they will engrave it for you to say something like, "For my Mrs. Every song is our song. Love, Leagle," or "For my Mrs. Help me find our song. Love, Leagle."
Two birds, one stone.
In the alternative, you can get it engraved with a message in your own words. Something like, "This is an ipod mini. You would like an ipod. We agreed that ipods aren't romantic. I am hoping that this engraving makes it more romantic. So, here is a romantic ipod."

The erotic readings were good. I didn't realize that I already had the anthology that a lot of the readings were going to come from, and it was a little weird realizing that one of the authors was a good friend of my brother's. Let's just say I've read her writing in the past with the aid of some electronic devices. She read a piece on the beauty and eroticism of the decolletage and then a more raw piece on ass-fucking. The other author read a couple of pieces from the anthology, as well as some pieces from some eroitc writing workshops she runs and a beautiful, hot poem by St. Teresa de Avila. I don't know why it surprises me so much that nuns would masturbate like that.
The authors related a funny anecdote about doing a reading for some local college professor's human sexuality class in Missouri. Class full of 19 year-olds, and NO one reacted. No giggles, no uncomfortable shuffling. Nothing. Believe me, there was something to react to. They talked to the professor afterwards, and he said that he was baffled by the class. In the middle of the semester the professor got frustrated and sent out survey to find out what was going on with the kids. Not a single one of them admitted to masturbating. Conversely, not a single person in the crowd listening to the reading last night admitted to not masturbating.
The first movie ]Hot and Bothered, was a documentary on feminist porn. I was pleased to see that the makers of How to Fuck in High Heels were there, and apparently they won best girl-on-girl action at the AVNs the year it came out. The writer of the book The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women was also on hand, describing how hard it was to make the film version of same. There were two other director/actresses talking about being feminist porn makers, and a former actress who started up AIM, a non-profit healthcare center for people working in the sex industry. (I think they're the ones that make sure that everyone in the Valley is tested regularly.) There was also a buyer for Blowfish.com, and a publisher for a erotic/porn magazine for women (sorry, can't remember her magazine's name and I can't access the docu site from work). Blowfish sounded like a store that I'll definitely have to check out. At any rate, the documentary was good. Funny, with lots of sex clips, and I came away admiring these women. It's a hard, hard business to be a woman in, and they're not getting much support from anyone. It's good to see them keeping on.
There were three short films after that. The first was a really hot phone sex conversation. Nothing on the screen except for the title of the film. There was a lot of shuffling around listening to this woman be drawn into orgasm. Very good, lasted about five minutes.
The second was a fetish piece. Food, stuffed animals, some dom/sub play, women fighting and tearing their clothes off. No actual sex, but it was funny and hot at the same time.
Finally, there was a shorter documentary (maybe five minutes) on burlesque and stripping. Made me want to take my clothes off very slowly.
No one seemed to stick around very long after the films. I imagine that they had things that they needed to attend to rather quickly. I know I did.
The films will be up at Dean's for the next two Monday nights. If you're in Houston, check them out.
Next up, a documentary on gay rodeos.

Well, I should hope so. Proper illumination is critical for the eyes.
