The third-place finishers are not automatically in the wild card show. The judges have complete control over who gets picked for the wild card show. So far the third place finishers have been 1) Matthew (sang "Walking In Memphis" and blew); 2) Lisa Leuchner (redhead who got screwed over by stupid America voting for Rose Bowl guy -- but she won't be picked b/c the judges don't like big girls); and 3) the Hobbit-looking guy from last week whose name I can't remember (I think he's the best bet of the three for a wildcard slot -- I don't know if anyone saw World Idol but the guy from Norway who won looked exactly like a Hobbit - one judge even said he would have a good chance of winning "Middle Earth Idol" -- don't ever understimate the irresisitability of hobbits).

RP,

Can you change her tag line from "phoning it in" to "insufferable, lonely, blowzy, loser hag"?

Me: Bridge Over Troubled Water. The Clay version. The Art version, the Musak version. Enough. That and Cher's Believe and most anything off of James Taylor's greatest hits.
As I loathe music known widely as "70s music," I choose its flagship anthem, Celebration, by Kool and the Gang.

The number one One Hit Wonder of all time, according to VH-1? Fugee I'm disappointed in you.

Actually, I think the Baha Men are ranked a little too high. I'd like to see some Chumbawumba in the top 20.

Like he is one of the only people I can't picture on Elimindate. I cant picture the George guy on that either and he was my other favorite. I wonder if that is my subconscious standard? Everyonee else was total Elimindate material. I can just see new Kim Caldwell making out with Fake Titter to win over bad singer guy number two.

They haven't said shit about who gets the wild card, but I seriously doubt that coming 3d gets you a spot on the wild card show. Didn't work that way last year.

That tune from Dawson's Creek, and the annoying chick who sings it.

BTW, I hear you on James Taylor. He seems like a very nice guy, but lord does his music blow. Its amazing Carly (the 70s version of whom I'd love to fuck senseless) and James lived together and her singing ability never rubbed off on him. The guy's utterly void of charisma and his voice sounds as though he consciously tries to avoid any hint of inflection which would suggest emotion. But he still gets major props for banging Carly.

Remind me never to come to your house, Captain Jack. The sole worthwhile thing he did in his career was fuck Christie Brinkley. His music is perfectly suited to commericial gingles - hell, half the time you don't even have to change the lyrics. Joel makes Springsteen look talented.

Does there have to be some sort of "holding oneself out as married or a permanent couple" element to it? Or does the CAN gov't feel OK speculating on who is and who isn't having sex?
You just have to live together openly as a committed couple for a year. At least that is the law in Ontario. Other provinces may have stricter requirements (but I doubt it).

If your roommate were to claim to be married to you and then try to get your property or support after you stopped living together, you'd have to challenge his/her claim in court - i.e. he or she would assert a claim and you'd fight it. He or she would have to prove that you were in fact living together as a committed couple. If everyone knew you were roommates, he or she wouldn't have much of a case.

It's not like the gov't would impose something on you if you didn't want it if you weren't actually committed to each other.

Neeeew, don't think so. An orgasm cannot be achieved the average human within one hour after thinking of Paul Simon.

I hadn't really thought about it, but that explains the solo careers of Art Garfunkel and Edie Brickell.

Thank you for finding that for me. I was worried that it had been lost for good.

Every time I hear "Bridge Over...." I picture Jan Hooks screaming it to Paul Simon on SNL. It's always both a funny and sad moment for me.

I have no love for "Love Shack". The fucking song is everywhere. Still.

Art Garfunkel can't sing. He's really not very good, anymore. The recent Simon & Garfunkel tour showed that his voice really has not weathered as well as Simon's.

Now as to whether back in the day he could sing, the man had the voice of an angel.
