Okay. I was not making the argument that he could still sing, as I haven't heard him in a while. Maybe that's what she meant.

But, back when . . .

BTW, I hear you on James Taylor. He seems like a very nice guy, but lord does his music blow. Its amazing Carly (the 70s version of whom I'd love to fuck senseless) and James lived together and her singing ability never rubbed off on him. The guy's utterly void of charisma and his voice sounds as though he consciously tries to avoid any hint of inflection which would suggest emotion. But he still gets major props for banging Carly.
You know, I thought once I graduated college, I would be through hearing anything by the Samples, Blues Traveler's first album (but I loved ALl in the Groove off antoher otherwise crap album) and most of all, James Taylor's Greatest Hits (I can remember this very cute partier friend of mine who went to CU singing "Going to Colorado in My Mind" while on summer break- gag). But lo and beholdm I went home for Christmas and my folks picked me up and when I walked in their house, JT's Greatest was playing. I implored them to turn that shit off. I thinik they jhust discovered this album and am certain they must have jointed a Columbia House 20 CDs for a penny thing. I heard it in the houise, the car, everywhere.

THEN< I went to Vermont recently and was in some outlet store and heard that fucking album again. WTF?

Every time I hear "Bridge Over...." I picture Jan Hooks screaming it to Paul Simon on SNL. It's always both a funny and sad moment for me.
There was this movie about a nun (SD, perhaps you know the one) where the nun sang Bridge over Troubled Water at the end and she had a really strong vibratro "like a Brrrrrrriddddge over trrrrrroubbbblllled waterrrrrr". Early 80's. Does anyone know this? It's bugging me.

I was in Great Barrington recently, and fell victim to the same crime (although I wasn't in an outlet store). Maybe he's some kind of local hero, though -- I think he may live there, but I wouldn't put money on it.

I liked him when I was in college, and I still like the song about "Sweet Baby James" but that's because I have a sweet baby called James and sing it to him.

Uh-oh. Now everyone will know who I am, because I outed one of my son's names!!! It's true. I'm Sarah Jessica Parker -- with a Ph.D. in nuclear physics and a gig as a lawyer, and an actress. You guys are tough.

You might be thinking of Savannah's Nasty Habits. I know there was a scene where she was making a lot of noise, and it could have been singing, I couldn't focus.

Why I hate James Taylor

This guy Dave that I fooled around with once in college played James Taylor because he thought chicks dug it. He was the type of guy who rather than ask for a blow job would simply assume the 69 position. In the cold light of that hungover morning the view of his pasty, hairy ass was intolerable. (Reciprocity is good, but aesthetics matter too, guy.) I wriggled myself out of position and hightailed it out of his apartment.

I was raised on James Taylor, Neil Young and Bonnie Raitt. So I don't necessarily hate all of it. Who can hate music that reminds you of when you were 4? 4 was great: no school (at least all day), no responsibilities, everything was free and people still thought you were cute (unlike when you're 7 or 8 and people realized you're that little spaz on the soccer field).

Pre-shower morning hungover 69 can't be fun for anyone...but our noses get closer (unless you're Linda Lovelace).

The other fun thing about being 4 is that you're given some leeway with that "not every thought needs to be expressed" rule.

I truly hate you now, Str8. I had to look at the list and now most of the top 20 songs are competing in my brain for position as irritating static. Unfortunately "You Light Up My Life" seems to be winning. Make it stop.................

I doubt it was Savannah. She used to lay there like a rock.

Best quote I ever heard about her suicide was when a male porn star (I forget whom - Jon Dough?) was told that she was dead, he replied "How could anyone tell?"

Cut him some slack. I was expecting something to the tune of "Shower the People."

Wasn't she married to Paulie Shore?
