i always hold the door, regardless of age or sex. What makes me feel bad is when someone starts jogging to get there like I wouldn't want to hold it for so long. I feel like saying "please don't. if my holding the door makes you have to run, I'm really not doing you a favor," but that would be weird.

To be younger, and fairly attractive always works in your favor....men are pretty easily swayed and being flirtatious in good taste, and working it always makes things easier for you, generally speaking.

I do not take issue with that. I take issue, as do you, with a lack of common courtesy. We have different versions of common courtesy. Actually, now that I think of it, I don't even think door-holding is "common courtesy." I think it is more uncommon courtesy, but I like it all the same, and I appreciate it immensely. Not for special treatment, but mainly, as I sort of said, because it is nice to see people interact in certain non-me-oriented ways reflexively, unresentfully, expecting nothing, merely because "they should." And sorry, but I'm with BRC in that I find it sexy. That has nothing to do with thinking I'm entitled to it.

And I must be walking behind the wrong guys, because I'd say at least half of them are content to let the door go without even looking back. Probably same for women, in my observation.

It's great you say thank you. I don't think it's great you quickly blow up into a fuck you because someone delays your precious day by a nanosecond.
