Not necessary. You are invited (platonically) to ride out the end of the world in the Keaton bunker under the back yard avec moi. You can even decorate it with photoshopped Hillbillaries, Elians and tanks. Bring wine, si vous plait.

That article says nothing about Martin Sheen, flags of Cuba, folk singers, everyone singing "Blowing in the Wind," or pictures of skeletons wearing military uniforms. The military uniforms were being worn by active-duty military and veterans who were protesting the war. But, hey, don't let the facts get in the way of a politically nice story.

If you did that on this board, I missed it.

And where in there are the space-based anti-missile lasers that Reagan wanted.
And that are at least five years behind schedule now (i can't quite remember the exact original scheduling)?

You answer your own question. In one word, authenticity. It was done once before and was breaking new ground. It actually created a change in our culture that was needed.
The new McProtest is 100% plastic, infantile and derivative in all the wrong ways. The kids out there aren't living in fear of a draft. They're fat, stupid dreadlocked doctors kids from the suburbs who desperately want to feel connected to something.
They want to recreate the 60s, which explains in a nutshell everything rotten, craven and imbecillic about their idiot displays.
If you're not even creative enough to come up with some new way of showing displeasure and teen angst, you have no business protesting - you deserve to be an accountant or a real estate agent. Stop kidding yourself and go get the job you know you'll have. Leave changing the world to someone with an imagination.

Hey, no problemo, don't let the facts get in the way of a myopically partisan viewpoint.

This one, with the ladies standing around the Harvey Keitel look-alike, pretty much sums up the appeal of the protestors:
Of course, attractive hippies have not been seen since Barker Ranch closed:
and The Dead stopped touring:
I blame Manson of course.

curious. in your world is there a difference between spitting at someone's feet and spitting on them? do you assume good dems numb nuts to be accurate spitters? I won't ask you if credibility is important to you, because you've answered that repeatedly.
edit- I've now stp- I don't know how wealthy your neighborhood was, but I can guess. if you grew up in my neighborhood and spit at the ground near someone's feet it was as much the insult- you were in a fight. the kid lost his leg- how the fuck can you defend spitting in his general direction?

Yes.
