Outable post policy

Can someone post what it is for me? I was accused of outing Less based on info I got from a post of his last wee, post 3783 *actually my post but his post is embedded. Now I can understand reposringt info based on something one said like five years ago when they were young and naive re internet chat baords, but mentionting a fact that a poster said the previous week (actually five days ago)? Where is the line drawn here? I definitely never want to out anyone so if someone can clarify the outing post thing, I would appreciate it.

Direct sales of wine.

If I go to a winery and buy wine and ask them to ship to an adult in particular states, I am prevented from doing so - even 1 lousy bottle for Christmas. It's ridiculous.
When wildly underage, I was fond of calling the local liquor store and getting a delivery made -- to an abandoned shell of a burnt out cabin on a dirt backroad. They never said no, and carding us was not an issue there where we were far removed from the revenuers and jackboots. We tipped generously.

Imagine how easy it would be with the UPS driver as the last point of contact.

If nothing else else ever made Paigow sound psycho before, she's really hit the mark with this one.

I was just teasing a new Friendster about the value of the White Stripes this morning, so I'm not totally disagreeing with you. But Jack White is nothing like Robert Smith, no wannabe or otherwise, and the White Stripes ain't no goths.

At the risk of suggesting that I give a rat's ass about college football, which I don't, I do think it's a little disturbing that the number-one rated team in the land, USC, will not be playing for the putative national championship because a supercomputer says that the game must match the number-two and number-three rated teams, LSU and Oklahoma for those of you who can't type e s p n into the address line of your web browser. Aren't supercomputers supposed to work for us? I think this is one of the signs of the apocalypse, as foretold in Terminator I -- we knew it as "The Great Terminator," kids. I am also concerned that my iPod demonstrates that the wily bastards are growing more clever -- they've learned to cloak themselves in alluring white casings with rounded edges, instead of that evil-looking stainless/titanium/Viking-stove-type finish and the red eyes. But I digress.

Leagl, do you suppose you could make this post disappear if it looks like they're about to take over?

edited to add: It is refreshing that a private institution has found a way to compete in the sport with the state-subsidized schools that usually dominate. It's either a vindication of the free market, or a confirmation that people who spent four(+) years at USC will squander money with the best of them.

I don't think you, personally, are. You are not selling wine across state lines. I think you can't have your local winery ship it, though. (I think.) Someone in wine country will know better.

I think wine.com gets around it by having a "distributor" in each affected state. Therefore, you have to shop by the state you are shipping to, and different states have different wines available. Makes Xmas shopping for dads a bit of a pain.

I am now convinced that you have never actually even seen the White Stripes. I think you probably saw The Rapture instead.

Maybe you should hire me to follow you around all day since I'm sure you spend a good portion of your day completely confused.

Finally, I suspect a lot more people know who Rachel Bilson is than will ever know who any of us are. She's one of the breakout stars from The O.C. and now, apparently, a favorite of the Stuff/Maxim/FHM set.
Hooray!!! A Jennie Garth for the Aughts

There must be some ways around this law because friends at Thanksgiving brought some California sparkling wine to dinner. They were recently at the vineyard and it was the same price to join the wine club of the vineyard as it was just to pay for the tasting. So they get different bottles shipped to them every month. They did say that it has to be sent to a place of business although they didn't know why.

I'd have to agree that the 21st Amendment places alcohol on different footing from the general Commerce Clause analysis, because it does not merely repeal Amendment 18. Section 2 of the 21st Amendment gives power to the states to ban any transportation or importation "in violation of the laws" of that state or territory. Given the poor way Amendment 21 is drafted, I doubt even Congress has the power to occupy the field and lift state controls on importation.

Bad policy, bad economics, but not unconstitutional.

I think there is a distinction between drunk and wasted. Being drunk can be fun until you get in the cab or bed or whatever and you get the spins and have to yuke. Being wasted is not fun. However, it is possible to have fun getting drunk or wasted.

That puts you on the side with Robert Bork, as opposed to the side with Kenneth Starr. NTTAWWT, though Starr is a little less scary-looking.
