Was this a big deal for anyone? I was in college and, at the time, it was pretty intense, especially as I had tickets to seem them over the summer (they were to headline Lollapalooza).

It was a pretty depressing day...
NPR did a retrospective on him this morning.

I was also in college, and I remember being unsurprised when I heard that he'd died because he'd been recovering from an overdose earlier that semester. But I remember thinking that it sucked a lot.

Eddie Vedder's obituary in the LA Times was really good, I thought.

Wow, she really does look like her dad...good thing she doesn't look like her skanky plastic mom.

Excuse me, but "proactive" and "paradigm"? Aren't these just buzzwords that dumb people use to sound important? Not that I'm accusing you of anything like that.

1984 redux

So, I had a dream that it was 1984 again (like I didn't screw up that year badly enough already, right?) -- and I wondered...if there was an internet in 1984 (I don't want to hear from the geeks that will tell me that arapnet or whatever was around then, btw) what would be posted on lawtalkers.com?

Sheesh.

Oh, god, it's been ten years. I had an e-mail account, but I can't remember seeing a web page until a year and a half later...

A google search found this, and maybe that was it, though I vaguely remember seeing something that had Vedder's byline on it.

Does anyone know if he is doing a toned down act this tour because of JW? That would be sad.

I was 9 and would have been posting on mylittlepony.com, but my boyfriend would have been 17 and driving around in his mom's car and bragging to the other guys on the high school football team which cheerleader he was banging. Yuck.

Who or what is JW? I have no basis for comparison whether the show was toned down from past ones. There was no nudity or particularly racy stuff.

In other show news, Seinfeld was very funny. But, as is often the case, his opener was even funnier. Mario Joiner did a riff on cell phone service plans and some jokes about his mid-life crisis that had me crying.

She is adorable. I remembe3r that Courtney Love, pre numrous surgeries, resembled Tina Yothers. I can see that a bit with this kid, just less round features. And Frances Bean is a fantastic name. My friend who named her daughet Claire wishes she thought of it.

I would have been mocking all of the Madonna wannabes and claiming that she has no talent and she'll just be a bad memory by 1986.
