Rosie O'Donnell
BUt even reading this site that you linked, I can't find a quote from Rosie where she said it was "no big deal." The blog author writes,
"When confronted, she said she was doing it to be funny. In other words, Rosie’s cool, so shut up and get over it."
This is the blog writer's interpretation of what she said, not what she actually said. Again, I think her attempt at humor was stupid. But she apologized. And, as Gwinky posted, Rosie acknowledges that what she said was stupid and that she is probably going to say stupid things in the future. Hopefully, she will perhaps think a little before saying something that other might find offensive.
A wise lesson indeed.

One of the things that irritates me...about the whole thing is that I'm very assimilated, I came here as a baby I have zero accent. People often assume I speak heavily accented English or none at all. It's a very "Fresh off the Boat" thing. Other immigrant groups come here over several generations assimilate and that is that...Asians because we look different people often assume we are FOBS and can't speak English. Same goes for that "they all look the same"
Is anyone watching this whole Duke Rape Case breaking news? who knew she was pregnant. Wow.

No; she said she is not going to stop saying these things because that is how her brain works. Also, don't you think "I'm sorry for those people who felt hurt or were teased on the playground" is one of those non-apologies people are constantly criticizing? The sume of what she said was, "sorry if you're so sensitive, but even though I somehow missed that that would bug some people but now know for sure, I'm still probably going to do it because I simply can't help myself." Imagine if Kramer* had said the same.
* I didn't make the link; she implicitly did by saying on her show (I read) that she has been told by some Asians that ching-chong is as bad as the n-word. Just reporting.

I think that there is a disconnect. I think Rosie said something immediately after, but before issuing her official apology. Maybe that is what the woman is referring to (I never clicked the link)? In the first day or so after, the news seemed to be reporting that Rosie thought no apology was needed.
I do find it interesting that someone who was all over another talking head recently for being insensitive on gay issues was so incredibly ignorant on issues that might affect another group. At least she admitted that she was ignorant (eventually). Though I think the "I'll probably do it again" thing at the end showed a lack of judgment.

Many moons ago, Rosie O. offered to buy me some champagne (Vueve) at the Pink Elephant in South Hampton. the offer was accompanied by a lingering brush of my mons area with her paw.
Thankfully, I was not a Rosie fan and was able to politely decline. Truth be told, I'd sooner let Trump have his way with me, even with the toupay.
Rosie is, uhm, not attractive.

This is untrue. I don't like bimbo hot (actually, I have no objection to sleeping with bimbo hot, I just wouldn't want to date it). Women who are attractive are attractive in part because of how they put themselves together. Smart women do that much better than dumb women. For this reason, I think the assumption that brains and attractiveness work inversely is a very flawed one.

Whatever you may say about her attractiveness and sense of humor, she knows that there are lines that cannot be crossed. Staph, for example, Is No Laugh. This message is apparently best delivered from the cover of a magazine with no makeup.

Second, he's wrong. but I'll leave that for another day.

He is wrong. His aim was merely to explain why the perception exists that women are not funny, not prove it. he used many behyavioral examples that showed the underpinning of the perception, in the context of which he made a volatile, but half-joking (unless you're tone deaf to his subtle form of digging) pronouncement that women might be in charge of things too much to laugh as much as men, and that what equates to funny is usually driven by men. Consequently, there's not a lot of good humor aimed at women. Hence they laugh less, which leads to the conclusion they cause laughter even less.
His aim is also to create exactly the reaction he did here. The guy's shtick is tweaking people backhandedly. But he makes you think, which makes him good.

"He makes you think." What does that really mean? Everything makes you think, except for maybe some posts on this board, which actually tend to block neurotransmissions. Even going to a dinner party and giving the host a bag of shit makes you think. But NotBob would argue that this does not make the shit-giver good.

So he says shit he doesn't really believe in just to fuck with people? Why pay for that, when you can read Ty's PB posts for free?

Dear Mr. Flower:
He causes you to look at something you hadn't considered. He causes you to reconsider assumptions you've made about something. He causes you to consider a viewpoint and observation you previously hadn't. This cumbersome explanation is colloquially referred to amongst the less formal as "making you think."
I will note in the future that you prefer a more formal correspondence, and endeavor to provide same. My apologies for late responses in advance, as they will take some time.
My best wishes of happiness to you and your family this holiday,
Sebastian Aloisius Dangerfield
