Yes. Now explain that to the family of people serving there.

What link? And, right now? Or has been since day 1? If only since we went into Iraq, then, YAY! We spread his influence into Iraq! Way to go, W.

Al Jazeera reported today that OBL planned the attack on Bagram airbase when Cheney was visiting -- 26 were killed, but mostly Afghans, and the suicide bomber didn't get anywhere near Cheney or even through any of the security rings. Funny how Cheney and OBL both benefit from this. Anyhoo, of course AQ is going to claim credit, even if they had nothing to do with it. And how could they know Cheney would be there?

Was there ever a question he wasn't? The issue was if he was alive. If that's the news, this is another example of papers not knowing how to write a proper headline.

Again, you mean the draftees, right? The enlisted people all choose to go there.

So, like, if your daughter chose to go to college at NYU or USC or Yale or Univ Chicago, all of which are in kind of bad neighborhoods, and got raped and/or killed, you wouldn't be upset, right? Because she chose to go there? Or if she enlisted in the military, you wouldn't be upset if she died or was mutilated or whatever, even if it was friendly fire like that football guy, because she chose to go there? And you wouldn't allow anyone else in your family, or any of her friends, to mourn, because she made her choices?

is your point the "they are poorly educated with no choice" or "they hoped they'd just stay in Korea for their whole tour?"

I get upset when my daughter stubs her toe. I'm not sure I get your point. Maybe I misunderstood Ty's original post?

It was a question, not a point.

Do you think you would like it if Laura Bush said, deploring campus/inner city violence, that she felt just as much, if not more, pain at your daughter's vicious gang rape and death as you did? Because, really, she feels your pain, except even more, because she's really sensitive.

Did my daughter only go to that school because Laura bush said it was important that lots of people go there to make things better and then my daughter enrolled there to follow what Laura Bush suggested should happen? If so i could see Laura being pretty bummed.

No, Laura Bush just said it was important that people go to college, and that was the one she ended up in.
