Speaking of which, there is a book out there (and again, I may have missed the boat) called Aragon or Eregon or something by a home-schooled kid and about the adventures of this boy and his dragon that is supposed to be excellent. So the kept man and I were watching a show last night (yes, an actual show that was not hockey -- what the fuck was I thinking) and it was about tits and ass. I think it was on E or VH1 or something like that. They blocked out all the private parts. I must say that my strange fear of seeing nudity on film has quite possibly made me miss out on some good films, at least according to this show.
What sticks out in my mind is that they showed that Ginger girl from the Spice group and she apparently posed nude before their meteoric rise in the music industry. Was I missing something? She was pretty damned fugly in those nudie shots.
I also watched a lot of hockey which I will report on at length shortly.

Yeah, he's right behind Rawling on the kids bestsellers list. He's barely out of school, if that.

I took a course in college with a well-known writer, who disclaimed any purposeful placement of "Jesus figures" or what-have-you symbolism in any of his writings. However, the people who make a living out of finding symbolism in places where even the authors deny putting it will just say it was the authors' subconsious that put it there.
You can't win this fight Hank. There are people who think it's there, and there's nothing you can say that will make them change their minds.
The Chronicles of Narnia, however, is a legit and purposeful usage of the "Jesus figure". I don't think CS Lewis was trying very hard to hide the ball with that particular series. |

I saw something on TV about that. The family apparently threw all their financial resources into the initial publication and toured around selling them out of a van. It sold so well that Knopf picked it up. I think the kid or his brother did the original cover illustration too, but Knopf changed it. Which is kinda sucky, in a way. |
