I laughed, I cringed, I cried .. it was, to its great credit, absolutely nothing like Cats.
If there's anybody left here who hasn't seen it yet, rent it now. If I hadn't watched it last night, I'm not sure I would have been able to drag myself into this hole of an office this morning.

Well, it's against my religion to stp, but I sure hope this has generated more conversation than the time I posted about it in the vain attempt to compare notes with other viewers.
I thought it was (to use a hackneyed phrase) absolutely brilliant. Um, I mean brill.

You are smoking the crack.
In almost every single situation, if a guy flirts with a woman, he would, given the right circumstances (which I acknowledge really opens things up), fuck her. I thought that's what made flirting fun. All it is, is a way to say, "You and I both know that if (i) we weren't around all these people or (ii) neither of us were taken or (iii) if you lost a few pounds and I had a few beers, we'd be fucking on this table," without actually saying it. Hell, aren't winks shorthand (quickeye?) for just that?

Stocking Stuffer
No idea how I missed the actual release date of this thing, but it appears that the latest version of "Rock 'Em, Sock 'Em" is now available on DVD:

Ha!
Heh heh. Except no real Jane Austen-ite would be caught dead reading The Jane Austen Book Club.
(That's an exaggeration for comic effect; however, LIST-SERV members of the Jane Austen group I belong to who did read it all gave it rather tepid reviews.)

Court Hears Case on Wine Sales on the Internet
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
WASHINGTON (AP) -- State laws barring people from buying wine directly from out-of-state suppliers should be struck down as unconstitutional, the Supreme Court was told Tuesday, as it heard arguments in a case that could lead to sweeping changes on how alcoholic beverages are regulated and sold.

I think in the Abyss Ed Harris said something like "don't die, you bitch," or "don't die on me, you bitch" to that bitch Mary Kate Stuart Masterson Melissa Sue Anderson Elizabeth Mastrantonio.

I'd put this in the "just not that into you" category.
Also, I should have defined "something more" as actually having a relationship, not just having a fuck or few. The difference is probably where the "that" in "just not that into you" comes from. But what do I know, I haven't seen the book.

How could you possibly have missed a spot? It took you a week, and only now you're asking for the number of my hunky painter guy? Now that I no longer have a hunky painter guy, only a hunky copy guy.
And it's odd, you've given us your dinner menu most every night. Last night was supposed to be Indian, but you had a meatball calzone. So what's tonight? Mexican? Sushi? Thai?

However, there is a real danger that if the Supreme Court rules the right way, states will just ban all direct shipments, ending discrimination against out-of-state producers but continuing to prevent residents from buying most out-of-state wines. I think New Jersey has already made this change. The answer is to move to California.

Flirting is about fucking. Flirting isn't about expressing how nice it would be to grow old with someone.

Ah, yes, the fine New Jersey wines. What is wrong with these fucks? Like their state isn't already a hellhole.
ETA I miss New Jersey. <sniff>

A few weeks ago, UPS knocked on our door, and my (decidedly minor) son answered it. Our neighbors weren't home, and the driver asked if he could leave the large box with us for them (a normal occurence around here.) Son said yes, and took possession of the case of wine.
So, yeah, I'd like them to find a way to let me keep ordering my wines on the internet, but there are some fixes that need to be found. I think they've shown a rational basis for concern.
