And, ppnyc, when did I ever say I was on a diet?
I thought you were festive like me--most of us festivites are perpetually on a diet. I am. Diet into fucking perpetuity.

I've been to Detroit on deals myself. Well -- Livonia, anyway. It was very nice. It was not Detroit proper, of course, but I think I was close enough to see the fires over the horizon.
Livonia. Do you work in moonshine licensing or Hillbilly divorce law?

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. What would happen if you stopped dieting and just ate healthfully and sensibly?

I run, and I just started the diet. Before that I ate whatever I wanted and blimped out. I was really only kidding about the perpetual diet. It has been 3 months and I've gone from an 18 to a 12. which is still too frickin fat for TM's taste but I feel much better and think I look much better.

I think it's counterproductive to be on a diet constantly. Even if I were, I'd be eating way more than you do, because if I didn't I'd alienate everyone I know. Hungry = very cranky for me. I would be eating something more like whole grains and/or something bean-based for lunch. Like, shrimp and/or chicken tacos from baja fresh, minus the second corn tortilla on each of the tacos, with double black beans instead of rice and black beans, and stir salsa into the black beans because they taste better that way. Also some lime juice in the beans.

Relationship between the two sentences above: ironic, sad or just dumb?

It's not a really great idea to think of yourself as "on a diet" because the second you're not, the weight comes back on.

Also, mac and cheese is perfectly fine to eat while you're trying to lose weight so long as it's in moderation and real cheese is involved instead of the processed stuff.

You mean how far west? Far as I can tell, anything east of 20th in SM might qualify.

I worry more about calories and portion sizes than carbs, but whatever works for you.

Great results, and I'm sure you feel a ton better. But you do need fuel or your body gets all inefficient and burns the wrong stuff.

There's a place on the Upper West Side that has fried mac and cheese. I need to try it. I'll have to go back there soon.
