Holy shit is Kellen Winslow Jr. an idiot...

I keep hearing people say this, and I'm trying to figure out exactly why? Is it because you can't be a major sports star unless you're playing in a "major sports city"? You don't think that he can get the endorsement dollars anyway by merely being the player he is? Do you think Nike, PepsiCo, etc., is going to convince him that he has to go to New York, L.A. or Chicago to fully realize his status as a superstar?
I'm not arguing with you, I'm just curious as to why people think this. Jordan stayed with the Bulls following some years where they really sucked, and Chicago built the team around him, and look what they did. Say what you want, but don't you think if Cleveland did the same thing for him, he wouldn't like the idea of bringing a championship to an area he grew up in? One that hasn't seen a championship in over a generation? I have to think that has to hold some appeal for him.
But maybe I'm just hoping he doesn't bolt for seemingly greener pastures.

Part of it is me wanting him to play for the Knicks at some point, even though our payroll won't allow for it for quite some time.
I think superstar athletes want and need the attention a large city provides. I'm sure it is great to be Big Willy in Cleveland, but when he talks to his boys in LA, NY, Chicago and Miami and they tell him what it's like to run shit there, it will mean something.
His big endorsements will always be there. But his local endorsement revenue will much more than double in a bigger market. No question. And that's a significant amount of money. The attention that comes with playing in a big market will increase the value of his big endorsement deals as well. Mo money, mo money, mo money.
I think it would be cool if he said, "I'm committed to Cleveland. I want to stay here for the rest of my career." But say those words out loud before typing your response.

I suppose the suit by stubby will be filed the same day the finger-eater wins his.

I saw Reggie Miller on the Daily Show a few weeks ago. I sort of got the impression that he's the last one who will spend 18 years in one small market.

Actually, I'd rather not hear him say anything. All I want to hear is that he signed a contract extension. A very long contract extension. Every time I've heard those words come from a player's mouth, it usually meant they were going somewhere else within a couple of years.
Hate to say it, but for those who call this area home, it doesn't really sound so preposterous. I just hope he's the exception to the rule. Then again, I'm not betting the house on it.

That is funny. And provides more sig-line material -- Hank?:
Added James, "drunk girls don't count though. I want that written in the contract."

Don't lose hope until you confirm that Craig Ehlo doesn't have a son.
TM
PS - One of the best quotes of all time:
The press asks Jordan what he thinks of the Cavalier's strategy of not double-teaming him in an upcoming game. Jordan responds with something like, "If they let Ehlo guard me straight up, I'll drop 100 purnts."
The press runs to Ehlo with the quote. Ehlo's response? "I think I can hold him to 98."

He's already signed with the Yankees for next season.
