No, I think he's a great guy. And he's definitely straight. And he's tough, he showed that Roger Clemens, that brute and a real team leader.

Yep. In 10 years, ARod will hold the homerun record (hopefully in a Cubs uniform) and Wright and Reyes will be tied with ARod for championship rings (unless he stays with the Yankees).

No, not implying STATING. Yankee stadium is the only fucking place in the world where many people get up and walk around regardless of the count. They have no clue that there is a game going on. At Fenway and in the majority of Shea, no one gets up onless it's between innings or batters.
|
This has absolutely never been my experience except the few times I sat in the ridiculously good seats. And that's because those seats are used by businesses to woo clients who mostly don't know shit about the game and aren't Yankees fans. And if you tell me that only the salt of the earth attends Mets games, you're more full of shit than I thought.

I get free Mets tickets all the time and I give them away because they suck.
But I don't know where you sit when you go to Yankee Stadium because this sounds ridiculous. Yankee fans are annoying and spoiled, but how is it that we are the most obnoxious, loud, screaming fans ever to everyone else (including me) but reserved and chastising (and apparently overly polite) on the other. There isn't a person on this board who buys your last line as a fact of Yankee fans in general. But I'm sorry a lady made your boy sad.

His postseason record this year is 0-0. I suspect you'll be quieter tomorrow after the Mets get knocked out of the playoffs.
I don't know why you think Wagner's ability to throw harder means anything. Mariano is better and more effective. If you could have him right now over Wagner, we all know you'd take him. But if the radar gun gets your dick hard, you should stick with Wagner.

Good come back. Since I don't pay attention to who signs what for whom, I'll happily concede this point (although I'm sure Jeter, Giambi, Bernie, Posada, Mariano, Cano and Matsui are all just as cool about signing autographs as anyone on your second rate team). But considering the fact that I couldn't possibly care less about it, I guess you'll have to rethink how jealous I am about this point.
___________
Now, let's discuss how jealous you are of the Yankees succcess, while the Mets have sucked it hard over the last 20 years (except that one year they made it to the World Series -- oops! Sorry. Sore subject?). Or maybe we should discuss how we dominate the New York market even though we're fighting for the same fan base. We could compare championship banners. We could talk about how the Mets were Atlanta's bitches, while we spanked that ass (like we spanked yours) when we faced them in the Series. Or maybe we can chew the fat on why the Mets have never won a season series against the Yankees since the advent of interleague play. Which one do you want to start with?

It seems like Pony may be to busy to respond right now. So, in the interest of keeping the Board moving, I choose how the Yankees dominate the New York market even though the Yankees and Mets are fighting for the same fan base as the first discussion topic.

That's all of Yankee stadium except for the real upper deck and the bleachers, both of which I will admit are populated with true, knowledgeable fans.

Look, this one's a joke. Mariano I like, home grown, not pretentious. But there is something impressive about hitting triple digits.

I am generally apathetic about Yankee success. Really. It's like telling me I am jealous of Manchester United or something. If the Yankees, win, whatever, I may watch a game or two but, even go, and I like that New York is involved in the post season. But you guys are insane when we do well.

What you guys won in the 1920s, before we existed, is not a relevant comparison. And the Mets, despite years w/o meaningful games in September, and despite a fucking DUMP of a ballpark, indeed the worst stadium in baseball, are pretty close in draw now, despite having a line up not designed to fill seats.

You're taking a very strong position without offering much proof to back you up, other than that that you said so. Almost all top mens designers make french cuff dress shirts. All of the "guides" to current men's fashion routinely display models wearing french cuff dress shirts. And a lot of high-end [custom] shirt makers now make their shirts french cuff standard or at least start with french cuffs as the default choice. [Ascot Chang comes to mind - The Custom Shop (the one on Wall Street), while not as high end, will assume that you want french cuffs] And since we're so devoted to dress tradition around here - traditionally, most, if not all dress shirts required cufflinks. Go watch some old movies from the 30's and 40's, or ask your old grandad (not the booze) if you don't believe me.
Second, I think there are two other factors involved (a) where you live and (b) your field of practice. French cuffs/cufflinks are much more accepted style of dress here in NYC than elsewhere. Additionally, you see many more Coporate/Securites/RE types with cufflinks than you do Litigators/IP/TE types.
That being said, GAUDY cufflinks should be outlawed. Cheval, you forgot the clock faces, the tennis rackets, etc. I saw a partner today who had cufflinks resembling a prone tiger. Ugh.
BTW - Not sure who wrote this earlier, but the statement on Barney's prices was, in my opinion, highly innaccurate. You will be hard put to find ANY good off-the-rack (not made-to-measure) suit at Barney's for less than $1,000. A good deal of the suits at the Warehouse Sale are still more than that. And even then, the service at that store, well, sucks. If you're going to spend that kind of money, go to Saks or Bergdorf's.

The gentleman on the train this morning next to me had some really nice looking cufflinks on. Almost a waffle weave gold tone square. Different, yet subtle.

My kitty-cat had to have his tail amputated last night. He is adorably cute but now he just looks absolutely ridiculous. Like a bunny rabbit crossed with munchkin cat.

Oh, stop. You've clearly never been to a game at PacBell, let alone anywhere west of the Rockies. The last thing going on at an SF Giants game is people actually watching baseball.
--
FWIW, at least the AL is competitive. The Yankees, sadly, got steamrolled by a dominant pitching staff and a team that was the best in the Majors for most of the season.
The National League was a pathetic joke. Karl Ravech called it AAAA. The Mets losing to the Cardinals this year would be almost as embarrassing as the "Great Collapse of '04"

What happened to your kitty-cat's tail? I hope he heals well and quickly.
