Bonus! I may "lose" my ID more often, in that case.
I guess I will worry about it for ANOTHER 24 hours and then fucking call fucking TSA.

It's hard for a novice, such as myself, to tell the difference between a called timeout and the tv timeout. It was weird to hear the radio announcer say that the Devils had called a time out.

Um, I mean, I totally support their right to strike, even if it means that my car idles, releasing greenhouse gasses for that extra 45-60 seconds.

Oooh, the stage workers on Broadway are striking as well, that means that the suburbanites won't be pouring in on Wed. for matinee day with their shellaced behives and leather coats and pinkie rings. mmmmm Happy!

We have albino squirrels in my neighborhood. Maybe some of them went to your neighborhood on vacation and got a bit frisky with the locals.

I'm not sure how helpful this is but once, post 9-11, I lost my wallet on my way to the Las Vegas airport (coming home from a long weekend of debauchery). They let me board the plane with only non-pictured ids (credit cards, no passport or birth certificate) but they did make me go through the secondary screening.
(my wallet was actually found and then returned to me after I got home to D.C. -- yay for honest taxi drivers).

If anyone busts ppnyc's chops for the inane shit she posts, I am going to cite to this post. I don't care what ltl/fb say. I'm gonna do it. I have even come up with a citation format:

Ahem, is this blue book compliant?
When Starbucks was promoting Akeelah and the bee, they passed out coasters with spelling bee words on them as defined. Am I a big nerd that I have an ambidextrous coaster sitting here waiting for my green tea?

Any information is good. How long ago was this? What does "secondary screening" involve?

The nice customer service lady at the airline said that a credit card and either the temporary license or my birth certificate will work. TSA is closed for Veterans Day, I think. I am kind of freaking out. Does anyone know whether the nice customer service lady at the airline is correct, or is she blowing sunshine up my ass?
|
If you have time to stand in line all day, in NY you can get a passport (or used to be able to) at the passport office if you had an airline ticket, for like the next day.
I have heard that some people occasionally buy refundable first class tix to use for this.

My experience with secondary screening was that it involved the xray machine, the little swab for explosives, and some asshole from TSA pawing through my carry on.
I should have PMed you as well, but I am bored.

I am feeling better (though I realize I may be delusional about it) -- I am willing to check basically everything other than a few books to tide me over, a credit card, housekeys and some cash.

Ok. Now we can turn to the question of why the fuck it takes, in this digital age, SIXTY DAYS to get a replacement drivers' license with a picture. I don't think I've seen a temporary paper license since I got my first license.

I would bring every piece of ID I had, regardless of origin. I would bring my SS card, my voters registration card, my temporary license, my birth certificate, etc. etc. Then I would also bring my work ID, my college ID, my credit cards.
