This is how I describe the state of Florida. Throw in all the imported white-t from Jersey, Indiana, Kentucky and Georgia, and you end up with Calvin peeing on a Ford/Chevy logo...

By the way, who the hell is this guy? I was watching "I heart the 80's for a little while last night with my husband (who, as a person who went to high school and college in the 80's, and in many ways is mentally stuck there, LOVES that show...), and the guy did have some amusing quips. But how did he get on that show? What's his claim to fame?

(My 80's-lovin' husband didn't know either, his answer was, "I don't know -- he just says funny stuff.")

Edited to add: OK. I just googled him, and the answer to "what is his claim to fame" appears to be -- appearing on the I heart the [decade of your choice]. He must know someone.

*sigh* lately I've seen a new crop of Calvin praying to a cross bumper stickers. It's downright sacreligious. And not to Christianity.

He plays a snarky bowling alley employee on Ed (which, by the way, is on NBC tonight at 8 pm eastern, 7 pm central). A show, I might add, which* I usually watch. And not merely in the past, when I had the opportunity of seeing Rena Sofer. Who I admire.**

*Or "that" -- who (whom?) can keep this stuff straight?

**Greatly.

Committee, my ass.

And I'll do the proposing, or propositioning, or whatever.

Now sit down. The adults are in charge here.

I don't think those of you who are doing the constant socking are getting that people are actually serious. You are not being particularly funny, and it is getting to the point where it is drowning out all other conversation.

I am getting a lot of complaints by IM, and you need to realize that.

I really don't want to see this board go the way of the IB because a handful of people don't seem to get that occasionally socking is funny, but when it is being constantly done it becomes old and tired and not funny.

I think it's the Snarky Snark Snark Committee. It hasn't been around in a while, but unless (or perhaps because??) it's got terrorist connections, I'm sure we can expect a resurgence!

He was a core member of "The State," a comedy troupe started at NYU (go Violets! Shout out to alma matter of the Mrs.), who had a self-titled MTV sketch comedy show that was as uneven as anything on television (by uneven, I mean a pee-your-pants funny skit would be followed by something so stupid that anyone watching instantly became a worse person for having sat through it).

He was also one of the geniuses behind "Wet Hot American Summer."

He's a funny guy, no doubt about it.

I had my Office avatar before you. Therefore, I invented Office avatars. But, since I am such a mild mannered wuss, you can keep Gareth.

I vastly prefer Calvin & Hobbes to anything because I have a son who is Calvin come to ife, which is only fair, because I am Calvin's Dad.

Okay, a fatter, balder, older version of Calvin's dad. But Calvin's dad nonetheless.

In case you would like to see the admirable Ms. Sofer as you page thru: (1) a post by a sock, (2) a post by Lester mocking said sock, and (3) lather/rinse/repeat, here you go.

Uh, carry on.

edited to put in better picture.
