My point is that, on one of the banner days for Republicans everywhere, your ire is apparently saved for a twit Congresswoman who threw a fit at a security guard. Wanting to change the subject is certainly understandable, but just so you know, your jumping up and down and yelling "Oooo! Ooooo! You're being hypocritical because you won't chastise some Democrat!" can't erase the smiles today.

What's the quote from animal house after Otter hits Grag, is it "Man, you're dumb" or "Man, you're stupid?"

According to her statement, she showed him her congressional ID.
I get your point, though. However, consider the following.
One of the local courthouses (in the lovely hamlet of Beaucoup Egypt) allows judges and members of the Podunk Bar to walk around the metal detector, which is a huge perk because the line is always so damn long.
Anyway, attorneys show their bar cards. Judges just assume that they will be recognized because, heck, it's their courthouse. Thanks to the vagaries of history, this local town has a sizeable minority group, which has historically been poorly treated and hassled by The Man. (Let's assume that we have a bunch of Chinese who have been here since their great-great-whatever-grandparents built the local railroad as coolie labor in the 1870s.)
Anyway, there's a judge there of Chinese ancestry. Let's assume that all of his judge friends get a pass by the guard when they come back to the courthouse from lunch, but he consistently gets told "hey -- get back in line, Chow Yun Fat!"
I wouldn't excuse the judge for smacking Rusty with his Corpus Juris Secundum, but I can't say I'd blame him for trying to ignore the guy.

This is ridiculous. Even if everything she alleges is true, which I highly doubt, it's no excuse for battery.

If not, I agree it's bizarre (unless the party told him to leave now, so he's not an issue for the election this fall, which it could be if he's still around)
|
The Washington Post is pointing this out:
Quote:
DeLay also is entitled under federal election rules to convert any or all of the remaining funds from his reelection campaign to his legal expenses, whether or not he resigns, is indicted or loses the election. Election lawyers say one advantage of bowing out of the election now is that the campaign cash can be converted to pay legal bills immediately, instead of being drained in the course of a bid to stay in office.
|
Though DeLay is a fucking master at raising money (though, to be fair, so is Nick Lampson, which is why all the other Dems quickly bowed out when Lampson started gunning for DeLay), and I haven't heard any reports at all that he's had any trouble raising cash, even with his recent legal issues.

Yeah, she should go. Her sins of idiocy sound pretty equivalent to those of DeLay.

But how about her record for mendacity, corruption, and evil?

Don't recall offhand, but unless the quote is something like "WATER has become a pathetic excuse for argument" then you may be thinking of the wrong movie.

He won the R primary (and pretty handily, I think), so it doesn't seem like his constituents think he's THAT bad for the district . . .
Stepping down just seems whiny.

Bet they don't. Capitol police is one sweet gig. Of the 78 or so police forces with jurisdiction in DC, it's got to be one of the two or three cushiest.
Or was until that guy went on a rampage last year.
Which isn't to say that they're pushovers. Congress holds the biggest fucking checkbook in the world, and they're not going to scrimp when it comes to providing for their own security.

Okay, that kind of arrogance and stupidity is nowhere near on the same level as DeLay. But calling it a racial thing, as she and her supporters did, is about as arrogant and stupid as say, Don Nickles.

Dimwit. Let me explain. My original post wasn't trying to equate this fine Congresswoman's actions with Delay's. i was merely wanting to create a Penske-like excuse to bring up Clinton's impeachment. so when you start arguing logically (at your level- but still) about my post I admit you might win some points. It's like when Spank makes some absurdly unsupportable statement and digs in- you all argue with him like he actually means it.
You. Miss. The. Point.

Are these the same cops who guard the Capital mall? Because if they're mall cops, I'm not surprised if they don't recognize congressmen - women - persons.
Hank, as you know -- I am a Democrat, a bona fide, card carrying dues paying member of the Democrat(ic) party. She was wrong. I don't know why she won't wear her stupid little pin. Seems like she's deliberately trying to get a reaction from mall security by not doing so.

McKinney is a well-known far left nutcase who plays the race card at every opportunity.
She was wrong, and I'd be happy if she resigned. [But she has never had the power to be as corrupt as Delay. Hehe]
