I'm pretty sure Bonds uses a VERY light bat. If I recall it's lighter than the bat I used when I was 15. And I was skinny at 15.
However, players in the 30s-50s used much heavier bats than players use today.

So it really isn't the size of the bat. Woo hoo!

|
I'm no science major, but I'm sure if you develop the muscles that are responsible for bat speed, you will increase bat speed.
Also, if you are stronger, there is less give when the bat hits the ball, especially when you don't make contact with the sweet spot. This means that when you get under the ball, it would carry farther. And the stronger you get, the farther the ball flies when you get under the ball -- making a warning track pop-up for someone with less strength a home run for someone with more.
At least, that's my theory.

Past recollection refreshed: RP was in my non-sexual dream last night. We watched The Office. The most vivid part was that her copy of the show was on VHS and she played it in her VCR. I recall being appalled by her Ludditity.
That is all. You need to step it up a notch or two, RP. That may have been the most boring dream I've ever had. We didn't even come close to doing it.

Please continue to quote anything distracting, as I can't bring myself to read the sports crap. Thank you.
SS, the size of the bat is important. There are many factors. It's not just one thing. However, since the other factors involve paying attention to one's partner, being skillful, etc., you are going to have to go ahead and get the enhancement surgery if you want to improve your performance. Sorry.

Tiger never outdrove Daly. Daly has always led Tiger in driving distance. If you're talking about a specific hole (or day) where he substantially outdrove Daly, it was probably due to club selection.

My dream last night didn't involve RP either, but it qualifies as "most boring" anyway. I dreamt I was being called on the carpet before every partner in my firm for using an "ain't" and a "'cuz" (as in, "because") in a portion of a brief that was excessively colloquial because it was designed to be particularly derisive toward our (particularly dumb pro se) opponent's arguments.
Maybe my dream involved dtb, but only if she looks exactly like my boss.

Wrong. Almost everyone swings the ultra light bats now because they recognize that bat speed is the key.

SS, don't listen to Fringey. If you get the enhancement surgery, you don't have to worry about ANY of the other factors. Paying attention? No. Being skillfull? No. Why? B/c you'll have a giant cock! Chicks will wait in line to service you. Then you can take a nap and be serviced again!
Trust me. It's wonderful. I'm so lazy I can hardly sit up. But I don't need to!!

The bats are a lot lighter and denser. They heat treat them to remove any lingering humidity.
Babe Ruth was rumoured to have swung a 38oz bat. Most players today use a 30-31. Paul O'Neill (not the Treasury Sec'y) used to swing a 34 and everyone poked fun at him.
Also - recall that they didn't bring in the fences for Teddy Ballgame either.
