Does anyone else think of condoms whenever people are talking about USC football?

Only if the discussion is about their cheerleaders.

Because you think they are diseased? The brush-top helmet combined with the condom is just unfortunate.

ETA my blocking software blocks your picture.

It's about global warming reaching Mount Everest, resulting in the ability to drive a bus up there. And the resulting question: at what point does one turn round, grab hold of whatever Caribou meat is left, and head back down the mountain, tail between one's legs; dreams shattered. And Sean Penn wrote the book so you the message will be Bush Lied (no global warming); People Died.

Got it?

Krakauer got it right. I'm worried that Penn omitted that message.

I'm not sure how to further discuss this w/out ruining it for people who haven't read the book (although the book is 10+ years old).
Krakauer got it right but didn't treat him like an "idiot". For most, the idea of "living off the land" for a time is very appealing and I think Krakauer explored that romantic idea/phenomenon as much as the snafus the kid made. Did you say the kid was mentally ill? Nah. He was just young, had that dream of living off the land and it probably doesn't help that our culture seems to always show the renegade out there defying death through sheer will or crazy hard work. Where there's a will there's a way. You get the idea.

But I LOVED LOVED LOVED that book a and read it at least once a year. I'm sure Penn will fuck it up. I'm just hitting the movie so I can bitch afterwards.

Yeah and what's nice is they make nice seats to rest on after you have a bit of supper from them.

I'll believe that, but I'm still not clear how they make "coffee" out of it.

I didn't say he was mentally ill. Some people have made that assertion.

I am fine with people going off the grid and living off the land. But if one truly respects the land/mother nature, he/she will take the time to learn how to properly surivive instead of jumping in willy-nilly. I respect and appreciate his attitude about society/materialism/etc, but I don't respect the lazy/reckless/arrogant attitude he maintained trying to get away from society.

Final Thought of the Day

Fuck, this movie was good and the score awesome. Spree: video (too long and enough scenes from the movie to be a spoiler and putting the infected in slow motion kind of makes them look stoopid but whatever).
