Lets just say that when you respond to an online dating ad, and the guy turns out to be a freak, do not link to his website on one of the boards to show us all what kind of freaks you attract because he might trace all the new traffic to his site back to the board.

Sounds like a situation best avoided for sure. By the way, I agree that it's not terribly funny (or nice) to make fun of random strangers for failing to be attractive enough to be worthy of participation on some faux-reality show.
Edited to add that I won't be emulating RT's fact pattern!

I usually send to mom and mom-in-law bath and beauty stuff. Since they all live far from here, it's easier to spoil with with stuff I already know and love and that they can use where ever they are.
My mother often receives a new biking jersery (because you can never have too many) and something like this Philosophy gift set.
The mother-in-law always gets some new super handcream like this Gloveables by blisslab because she delivers babies all day, so she is constantly washing her hands.
And a collection of new nailpolish for each.
Edited because once I removed the cute pictures of the "Perfect" Philosophy gift set and the bliss set, the sentences made no sense. The point is: I always have something delivered that is very girly and something they would never get around to buying for themselves.

My mom has been very specific this year - she asked for, and I'm supplying, the parts and labor to replace the engine/hydraulic pump coupler on her logsplitter.

I usually give my mom (and my dad, when it is father's day) a home-made coupon for time spent with me (SOME people actually like me -- NTTAWWT). For example, tickets to an art exhibit or a show or golf or shopping plus a coupon for dinner or drinks before or after. Flowers are overrated.

Sure, if people like you flowers are overrated. If people don't like you, flowers are better. This was TM asking for suggestions.

My Apologies
I'm sorry if I caused any problems by posting an unknown person on the Internet to be subject to mockery. Quite frankly, the photos in my series were selected based on facial expression and not how poorly the subject was dressed.
Given that this is the FB, though, it is not surprising that people jumped to the conclusion that I was derisively holding these "private citizens" up for mockery. This was not the case.
Apparently, those in the public domain, such as celebrities and reality tv contestants are valid targets. With this in mind, I have re-envisioned my Fashionable Accountant exhibit and hereby launch it with the following "famous" accountant, Terri "Dirrrrty" Whitson:

And, let us remind ourselves of what happened when Dianne did that some time ago . . .

There's a huge difference here, since pushy had the smarts not to link the photo from that person's website. He uploaded it to a non-related server before posting.
(and now, since I resized it, it's loaded on our servers)

My mother got a trip to Mexico, courtesy of my dad. He's tagging along to make sure that she's properly pampered the entire time. I threw in free babysitting for her puppy while they are gone. I think that I'll also get her a solar powered fountain for her deck, because she admired it when we were recently shopping at Smith & Hawkins.

Does she have a maid? If not, cleaning of the house is always a nice thing.

Perhaps an irrelevant aside, I was quite surprised when the verdict came down that this was true. However, the crying white people I knew of (personally - there were probably bunches shown on the evening news, but I sort of ignored the whole thing while it was happening) was a friend and her co-workers in Canada. (OK, in fairness I don't know how many of them were white or not, but my friend was, anyway.) She called me a couple days after to ask what we thought about it down here, and I basically said "if he couldn't afford bigshot lawyers to manipulate the courtroom, he'd be screwed, but he walked and people with much crapier cases against them fry because money talks, and yeah that sucks."
Anyhow, my Kanuk friend launched into along speech about how we Americans just didn't understand how our justice system was viewed in the rest of the world, as a great forum for ensuring fairness etc., and the manipulation of evidence & jurors racial sentiment was just a crushing blow to people who admired the model of free government the US represented, and they were crushed, just crushed at this failure, and it seemed to the rest of the world that the whole US legal system was entirely corrupted by money and race. And she and her whole office broke down in tears and wept when the verdict came down because it was such a failure that the court system couldn't withstand money and racial hatred.
I have to tell you, this whole thing really sort of freaked me out. First, she was Canadian, so why did she care anyway? Second, she was never a particularly pro-Yank Canadian, either, so why was she so surprised? Third, who out there really think money doesn't affect that stuff here? I mean, really? Fourth, who cries about something like that? And her whole office? I gotta say, I really thought that someone just obviously slippled LSD into the water cooler up there that day, 'cause nothing else could explain it.
But, anyhow, the "point" of this digression was yes, it is absolutely true that white people sobbed when the verdict came down.
|
???????????? If I was within distance to do so and I saw a white person (or any person) sob at that verdict, I'd have relieved that person of some of his/her teeth.
Lets recap:
A probably methed senseless ex-running back/tv star kills his bleach blonde bimbo goldigger ex-wife in a fit of amphetamine psychosis in Brentwood - the center of America's cultutal heartland. Afterward, a cabal of whores including members of the families of all parties write books, cash in and mug for their "15 minutes". The defendant, being wealthy, hires a great trial team who does its job. The prosecutor (obviously not a golfer) tries to put a shrunken golf glove on the hand of OJ. Not surprisingly, it doesn't fit. The jury (likely non-golfers) of people who had nothing better to do with their summer decide to acquit. Afterward, everybody, including the prosecutors, gets rich. OJ goes to Fla where he lives off a fat pension.
It was like a season in America's cultural toilet. Or a study in how to lose a case but get really fucking rich anyway. I'd say it could be likened to Bonfire of the Vanities, but that might equate a filthy star-fucking whore like Dominic Dunne with the likes of Tom Wolfe.
S(same thing goes for the Skakel thing and Robert Blake thing)D
