It's a quote. I will consider adding '[sic]' to it.

I've always been fond of "technosavvy."

Uh, sorry. Some VP web developer is being a total jackass this morning. I'm pondering disenrolling his entire family from their health plan. He can stay on. Or, more accurately, I have no reasonable basis for disenrolling him. I do have a reasonable basis for disenrolling his wife and kids.

Isn't it about time we moved on from TP? Some kind of baby wipe for adults? I feel like there's a market here just waiting for me to make brazillions of dollars in.

Are you IRL Terrence Howard?

He breaks up with women if they won't replace dry TP for baby wipes.

He says it is a cleanliness issue like we need to step it up to the next level.

Then We Came To The End, by Joshua Ferris, which I read partly on ncs's recommendation and which made me laugh out loud, is one of the finalists for the National Book Award in Fiction, along with three books I haven't heard of and one book I haven't read. Christopher Hitchens is up in Non-Fiction, which might make Slave happy.

Meanwhile, the excitement builds for tomorrow's announcement of the Nobel Prize in Literature. I'm going to a party at a coffee house with a satellite feed, and I'm planning to get totally hopped up on espresso and then doing something crazy, like read some Derrida.

eta: Here's a sleeper pick for the FB Book Club:

Wow. You just made the image of NotBob cruising the suburbs in a rented muscle car and winking at mini-vanned soccer moms seem kind of badass.

My mom's neighbor discovered that there was such a market, which he tapped. It then cratered when folks learned the product didn't dissolve well and clogged drain lines and septic tanks.

My year long self-imposed book buying moratorium has gone fairly well. Aside from books that were written by people I know and the Harry Potter book, I've managed to stay out of bookstores. I did, though, lapse and buy Until We Came to the End when I was buying my friend Allyson's book. It's on the "to be read" pile now with all the other books that I have to get through before I'm allowing myself to buy books again.

My quest to get through half of my "to be read" pile in this calendar year was severely thwarted, though, by my mid-summer reread of the Harry Potter series.

My wife has not bought any books all year. I do not think she is well in the head, although I suppose that is between her and me. She goes to this place called a "library" and borrows books for weeks at a time. Bizarre.

The great thing about America is that it doesn't lock up crazy people like Mrs. Slothrop. She wouldn't last long in Europe.

It is all Kadare this year. Anyone else, and I'm flying to Sweden to have it out with the Academy. Unless they really choose Bob Dylan. That would be a hoot.
