I assume that you're speaking of AE's post which says "here's a mild image . . . ", only, on my screen, there's no image, and I am starting to wonder if someone deleted it.

[EDITED TO ADD]: I think my company net is blocking the image link. That would explain it.

Yes, but dressing up a cat as a princess is fine. Just fine.

I'm thinking the IT dudes have it filtered. All I get is a big red X. Considering, though, I think I prefer that. All that piercing stuff is squicky, even if it has fellating benefits.

Good point.

One difference is that the self-mutilation that was showcased in National Geographic was usually intended as a decoration or modification that (1) reinforced the person's membership of the cultural or larger social group in which the person would generally spend his/her whole life, and (2) was generally viewed as beautiful or desirable, or at least necessary (in the case of genital mutilation) by the members of that group.

As you note, we generally view this stuff as just plain freaky.

I can still load the image. I don't think that I or any of the other moderators have deleted the image.

What a coincidence. The actual picture resembles a big red X.

I'm back, the fresh air was just what I needed, and of course I have to click on the cute baby link. I'm actually going back to my Catholic roots and PRAYING that the image was created in Photoshop or similar software.

A substantially less nauseating link, except maybe for PLF

A California legislator wants to formalize the procedures surrounding the distribution of medicinal marijuana, as approved by the voters in a recent ballot initiative. So he introduced a bill to do just that.

The bill was numbered SB 420. Everyone is now denying responsibility for assigning it that number, but there's a lot of smirking in Sacramento.

The people getting the most exercised about this, pun intended, should try therapy for their unresolved issues rather than mouthing off here. It would be more likely to show results in the long run and easier on the rest of us.

Are you trying to prompt the "therapy is self-indulgent, blame-the-parents bullshit and people should just suck it up rather than whining about stuff" rant?

Update on car

Guy called, car is painted, and he's coming back this afternoon to finish the job. He gave me his drivers license to hold until everything is to my total satisfaction.

Who knew?

Yeah right. "Medicinal" use. Like every little burned out freakhead suddenly has glaucoma. Whatever. And, by the way, guess what kind of people decide it is a good idea to have their penis split in two? Fucking bake-a-zoids, that's who. Yeah, a couple more puffs of the magic dragon, and suddenly it seems like a really great idea to have your genitals surgically mutilated. Like duuuuuuuuude! That would be soooooooo raaaaaaaaadical!!!!!! You'll be a free spirit!!! I mean, shut the fuck up, you drooling, glaze-eyed, slack-jawed loser. I don't give a shit if you want to condemn yourself to a career as a janitor at a tattoo shop - you have probably killed so many brain cells that even this will be a challenge - ("like, where did I put that mop . . ."); but don't be showing that shit all over the internet. I'm not trying to see that.

It's remarkable how (apparently) honest business people still do things that make you think you're getting ripped off. Every contractor who does the smallest thing at my house seems to do something (or not do it) that really makes me think I'm getting cheated/ripped off. Thus far, however, they've all eventually come through without serious prompting on my part.

Mmmm(do you really need to wait a week before putting that final coat of paint on?)Burger
