Pre-iPod, I would have thought a thousand songs was a ton. Now, it seems so puny.
But it is very pretty and much more competitively priced.

Isn't that basically what the first iPod held?
It's a ton, until you load your 400 CDs on to your computer and realize it takes too damn long to create a bunch of playlists to get the numbers down to a reasonable figure.

My 10 has 1400 songs in 6.3 gbs . . . a fraction of my actual cd collection. I am confined more by harddrive space than anything else.

I'm not at all a mail or addressbook fan. It's too bad, because I'd like to drop microsoft. but mail is lacking some basic features (last time I checked, at least), like "open next on delete" and address book is really lacking in the amount of information one can put in. For example, no birthdays. Not helpful, especially when that feature could integrate with iCal quite nicely. Basically, mail and address don't have features that entourage does, and don't have any features that entourage doesn't, except for the microsoft name.
|
The lack of easy organization in Mail by separating emails into different folders bugs me. A lot. As for AddressBook, I actually rather like it, and put info like birthdays at the bottom in "Notes."

Perhaps, but it strikes me as too much for too little. Sure, it's small, and colored, but for $50 more, you can buy a $299 15GB ipod. Lots more music there.

[Nevermind. I just read a (corrected) news story that blows my pricing theory to shit.]

The pricing surprises me, because I would have thought Apple's goal was to deliver an "iPod for the masses" That is, one for folks who can't/won't pony up $300 for a walkman... It's weird, it's almost like Jobs is trying to create a country club that only rich people can enter.

Folks in a country club dress much better than the high school geeks with their macs.

So, this isn't actually totally a Mac question, but it's mostly Apple software and hardware, and I figure that it's pretty much the same thing. I promise that there is plenty of obsolete (mostly) Apple hardware and software laying around my house, even if the current main machine is Wintel.
Is there anyway to cause iTunes (any version) to generate any sort of catalog or document listing all the songs (or preferrably, in the case of whole albums, just the albums) in it in a format suitable for printing or spreadsheet manipulation? I love the way it queries the internet to figure out what CD you're scanning and gets all the track names, and now that I've got that info in iTunes and on my iPod, I want to manipulate for a nice document to use with my home system.
TIA!

"Export song list" gives you all possible information you need. It usually has extraneous information I delete when I am formating the list.

Thanks! I think you're spectacular now with that kind of info... That's what I get for thinking of cool stuff to do with software when I'm away from it and don't have the ability to actually try it and look for it....

I had the OM work on the problem. We reset, reinstalled, ran norton, followed the apple.com instructions, etc. to no avail. Everyone else the in the Odds family has experienced the same problem within the past two weeks.
Anyone else suffering? Was there an errant patch we installed? I have reported it to apple twice to no avail.

Did you ever discover the cause of this problem and/or correct it? I appear to have developed the same issue a few weeks ago, and haven't had any success. Fortunately I had IE already installed, which works fine, but I am loathe to use any MS products if I can avoid it.
Thanks for any help you can provide... FYI, I am running Jaguar 10.2.8

Nope. I am using Netscape, which works just fine.
Safari has never worked for me again. I cannot figure out the problem.

Shoot, not great news there. Oh well, I'll let you know if I figure out anything myself. Thanks anyway.
