Tourists or non city-folk are not aware of this rule. They will stand three abreast if they can.

2. The home run derby is cool, but needs fixin'. Instead of basing it solely on how many home runs you are able to hit, it should be based on the sum total (estimated) distance of all of the home runs you hit in a round. If McGuire hits ten 500 foot blasts and Tino Martinez hits eleven 400 foot shots, McGuire should move on to the next round. That's what the derby is about. And the real sluggers should benefit from putting on a show.

I said this very same thing last night. Total distance. The friend I said it to reminded me that home-run distance calculating is an inexact science. And I replied that you could use:
(1) that strobe camera to estimate trajectory
(2) a speed gun and a protractor

It looks like it is done on purpose -- like the next step in the piercing and tatoo world. Aesthetic Bruising maybe? (If you don't back up one escalator step, I set up shop right here and now, bitch.)

Of course. Besides, I carry it in the front pocket, so I'm really only nervous I'll lose it when people like you are standing directly behind me.*

Why? They post the distances after each shot anyway. And who is going to make a big stink about losing this event anyway? And if they do, who fucking cares?

I didn't say I didn't like it. I just think it's photoshopped.

I think this is a fine idea, but the problem with doing it in a stadium is that you can't see where the balls would have landed. You can't really project distance well unless you can measure height or speed. Therefore, the home run derby should be relocated to a field large enough to measure where the balls stop rolling. That would be fun.

That's cupping, right? It's a medieval health remedy. Like leeches, only more ugly.

On those days when I'm dragging and dreading going to work and I decide to stand on the right, please respect the "every other step" rule. There is little worse than having someone stand on the escalator step directly behind you. One foot on? Okay. Both feet? Why? Is that extra .05 seconds you save really going to make a difference? Do you follow someone up the stairs stride for stride, always one step behind?
Fuckers.

Leeches are making a comeback too.
I don't think cupping was limited to medieval times. I seem to remember someone got treated that way in Dangerous Liasons.
