even worse, I drank a conglomeration of a little bit of all of the alcohols in my dad's liquor cabinet before school one day. three day suspension was not my worst punishment that day (3 day hangover was).

Yes! According to this site http://www.icomm.ca/emily/isms.html (spree - Canadianisms translated into American) Everclear is the same as alcool. I didn't know that.

Interesting site. What does the Canadian phrase, "the file you are looking for cannot be found" mean in American?

No, no. And I won't claim Major League (hi Sr8!) was a Milwaukee movie. Or, for that matter, that the Crucible was really about the less-famous Ipswich witch trials.
The point was a limited one, relating to a movie that appeared to be without specific location in the movie itself, but was obviously filmed in a certain location, with additional literary attributes suggesting a location.
But Paigow, in all her brilliance, has corrected me, by noting that it was set specifically in Amity, a fictional town that really represented a town on Long Island, and was specifically mentioned in both the movie and the book. And, obviously, that location was integral to the plot, such that one could easily mentally substitute long island when one sees edgartown as easily as one sees Endor, not Redwood National Park.

Sophmore year I'm sitting bench for my school's basketball team- never play at all (i grew 11 inches that summer). So I start taking codeine and/or booze before the game to help kill my deep internal pain. One day I whine to the coach about how i don't understand why I never play.
That evening, before the game, I take my codeines and vodka, dress and take my spot at the end of the bench.
2nd quarter, Coach, apparently feeling sorry puts me in. I stumble around, slashing at people. 2 turnovers 3 fouls in about 1.5 minutes.
Garbage time only the rest of the season- but at least I had the get high-all clear.

It's a good analogy for what your brain says on Everclear.

The mob guy they buried in Goodfellas was buried on Long Island.

That is correct. Wasnt the original poll question , such as it was, what is your favorite movie SET in long island?

FYI, a quick google search reveals that Benchley based Quint on a sharkfisherman who caught some huge sharks off Amagansett and Montauk.
And I'll own up to an error in listing that piece of shite Sweet Liberty, which was shot on LI (mostly Sag Harbor), but which I think was supposed to take place in Mass. So we've canceled each other out.

I did the same thing on my 18th birthday. Puked a lot. Learned not to mix alcohol like that again. Pick one, stick with it.
Apropos of nothing, I won a bet once with some jackass frat guy at UCLA who said he was "hard core." He had the nerve to call me a lightweight. I bet him that he couldn't take a straight shot of Everclear. He tried. I think he passed out. Or fainted. Or went into a coma - didn't bother to check, but, I won!!
