If you are considering it, head straight to Scottsdale. Live in Scottsdale. Try to work in Scottsdale. If you leave Scottsdale, only do so to go north into the mountains. Follow this advice and you'll like "Phoenix" a lot better.

Thats where I'd be going. I'm flying out in a few weeks to check it out.
My fear is that I'll discover "the problem" is not the geography...

Or worse it could be that the geography is not the only problem.

It's a shithole. Don't do it. I'm doing you a favor here. It's a thousand degrees most of the year and when it's not, the snowgeese are all there. Imagine 90 year old geezers in their Caddys driving 15 mph ALL THE TIME, EVERYWHERE with their Minnesota and Washington license plates. Imagine your worst nightmare in a grocery store behind grandma, and her coupons, trying to give exact change to the cashier for her box of wine and National Enquirer.
You will thank me.

I doubt that even cracks the top 100 for Sebby's Worst Nighmares. In fact, I can almost envision him striking up a conversation with Minny while she fishes through her coupons.

[true story] I once got stuck in the desert outside of Phoenix. Blown water pump. [/true story]
I know a lot of people in Phoenix and Scottsdale but personally I don't feel comfortable living more than an hour from an ocean. No offence.

Like I said, Florida in the desert. On the plus side, there are plenty of golf courses, so when Sebby procreates, he can promptly join a club and ignore his offspring.
My personal K should have been more interesting than this, but I just ain't that inspired today.

I think Phoenix is a great city. Then again, I like Dallas. It's a cross between Dallas and San Diego from what I can tell (women of Dallas, men and jobs of San Diego).

I think Slave posted that same thing before he moved west, and of course, he found out that the problem was more than the geography. no offence.
