Calling Gwinky
I got this, um, medical condition -- can you help a sister out and cultivate me some of that fine Canadian medication?
"Canadian courts ruled on Tuesday that businesses and individuals be allowed to grow and supply large amounts of medical marijuana, effectively relieving the Canadian government of its often criticized and fairly unsuccessful attempts to do so itself. "

The phrase "party line" has a different meaning under Schwarzenegger.

I need to buy some new suits. I was in Lord and Taylors the other day and I tried several on, nice stuff, but I found that they fell kind of strangely on my body. I think it is cause I am short, despite the fact I tried on petites.
Do other short people have suggestions for a good place to buy some new suits?
|
Not places but brands (I won't pay retail so where to get em depends on where you live). Tahari does well-cut, well-proportioned petites. So does Max Studio (if you have a more casual office). If you have breasts, forget DKNY--she won't accommodate them.

HOney, I havent broken a law in years. Yes, I know that is sad. But I havent.
I am a little disappointed for you to accuse me of generalizing without any basis in fact and then to simply go away on it. But nto too worry, we dont really consider Canadians to be immigrants so nobody is judging your driving.
And I issued no opinion on whether people should be deported at the DMV. I merely asked why not? But your position is that it would be so awful to do that. How about this POV? They were lucky to get away with breaking the law this long. Is there a statute of limitaions here? Like if you ahve been breaking the law for fifteen years, you are no longer detainable? Thats just naive. Of course it would suck to be deported. It would also suck to get the death penalty. But there are laws and when they are broken, one should expect to pay the piper. Otherwise, we live in an anarchic state, dont we?

Are you high?
SD is currently a phone in lawyer. THat is not an ex lawyer. Unless he got busted for lying in court. Plus, if he moderates, then he cannot be ignored, and sometimes, the ignore functino is handy on him.
Plus, he is so blustery.

The first designer who agrees to drape me perpetually in silk velvet wins. Alternately, Nick & Nora makes good lazily-lounging-around-nibbling-bonbons-and-drinking-wine-wear.

Tahari is OK. Their fit is good but their fabric and build quality leave a lot to be desired.
Try Nordstroms. They have an excellent petite department and even Studio 121 (within Nordstroms) will have stuff that fits.
If you really want to do it right, there is a department that is usually next to Faconnable or Designers that all of the pants are unhemmed and they will tailor the jackets. Depending on the seamstress, they come out looking like custom made.
If you're looking for off the rack, Macy's has a decent petite selection. Avoid Neimans. Saks, on occasion, has OK stuff, depends on what drugs the buyer is on.

Catchup. Suits & sandals & poll
I, too, am short. I tend to wear regular sizes, though, and take the sleeves and skirts up. I guess I have really straight posture, because even petite suit jackets tend to be too long in the back, but too short in the front (and it's not my massive tatas sticking out). Which wouldn't be a problem, but I favor suits with really close fitting waists.
Fancy dress sandals are never really out up here. Just do not wear stockings with open toes. But it is probably too late to wear them with a suit for business-type stuff. Weddings/dinner/drinks, OK. Re: walking sandals, unless they are "casual summer city sandals" and it is summer, I'd leave them be. Bring comfy loafers.
One designer only? Valentino. I have some gautlier that I adore, but Valentino is the best for lovely, feminine stuff that you can wear forever.

Here's the point. IF you think that illegals are NOT driving because they don't have a license, you're smoking crack. At least, this way, they will have a license and hopefully, insurance.

Oh yes, I love Valentino. If only the clerks at the boutique weren't such bitches, I would probably own more.

I promise promise to shut up about this after this post. But jesus, do you realize how hypocritical you sound? You openly talk about how you've flouted laws in the past like it was no big deal. So what you're saying is now, if SD magically appeared with a big blunt, you would say no, not me, I'm a law abiding citizen? I doubt it from the way you talk.
But that is kind of besides the point. If I were to buy that you disrespected the law in the past and now, because you have not broken a law in years, have totally redeemed yourself and been reborn as a law-abiding citizen, according to you, you still have to pay the piper because of the laws you broke long ago. And I don't see that happening.
So I and my thin skin will still continue to think that you are a hypocrite and even though you have the right to say whatever enters into your head, I will tell you why I think you are not in a position to judge.
And you did make a sweeping generalization. I am not going to scour the streets of Los Angeles in an effort to prove you wrong because I don't have time. Sweeping generalizations are always suspect though. They just are. Deal with it.

They will also have an officially issued ID from an American governmental body. Last time I crossed the US border by car, my license was still sufficient to establish legal US residency with the INS/customs. It would also enable holders to move pretty freely to any other US state and trade in their CA drivers license for a license from any other state, given that "reciprocity" thing.
Unless the suggestion is that the DMV would issue licenses emblazoned "ILLEGAL" on them, or keep records of the names and addresses of illegal residents. Without doing anything about it.
I think the US immigration policy is monumentally screwed up and misconceived, but it is no improvement for the states to try unilaterally to change it or fix it, circumvent it or ignore it. I know that they have to do this anyway, since the INS can't manage to get it's head out of its ass to administer its own rules, but I don't see encouraging it or acquiescing in it.

Me: After over 4 years on these boards with her, do you know how asinine this question sounds?
