I disagree. I think those things are all quite played out. Sorry.

This just became too meta for me.

My decidedly un-meta reaction to this line was to wonder whether a certain sock from the Stalin Board was going to show up and the ultimate result would be this post's being tied to the waxing thread.
It can't be good that I remember things like this -- it undoubtedly crowds out other more important things, like say, regs. and statutes related to my practice area, or the names of classmates who will end up in influential positions.

Speaking of Great TV
Anyone else see the VH-1 Pop-Up Video treatment of the ExtenZe penis enlargement infomericial with Ron Jeremy, Kim Chambers and Ruby? Too fucking funny. One pop-up made fun of Ruby for saying in the commercial that she'd slept with at least 1000 men, when the true number is in excess of 1500. Geraldo could learn from VH-1's jouralistic skillz.

I kid you not, somebody gave me one of these very recently as a wedding present. Mr. AMM and I agreed to put it away (way, way far away) so that we would not wet our pants laughing every time we passed the mantel. I am saving it to give to him as a wedding present when he marries the next mrs.
(edited to fix typo caused by sudden urge to run to the ladies room)

More power to her (like she needs it)...
...if only she didn't use the sponsor's exemption.

She tried and failed to qualify for a different Nationwide Tour event, although she did beat many men and she is only 14 ...

The Bachelor
To Paigow and to everyone else who watches the Bachelor - this is your reminder that the finale is this Sunday.
" ‘Bachelor’ finale airs Sunday. Teasers for the finale suggest that the Firestone wealth will impress the women, and that one of the Firestone relatives will take Andrew aside and object to one of the two women. (Details, as well as that woman’s identity, won’t be revealed until the show.) Firestone and the woman he chooses will make their first public appearance as a couple on “The Bachelor: After the Final Rose,” airing at 9 p.m. ET May 21. The runner-up also will discuss her rejection."

The Bachelor
My guess is that Andrew's family objects to Kirsten as a gold digger. Jen wins.

Wow, you have a really lax dress code at your office.
And another news flash on the Bachelor - funny Bob from the Bachelorette is going to be the next Bachelor.

Fish news
Ollie, I always get my fish at the downtown farmers' market. I've always enjoyed the stuff I've bought from the folks at Briney Sea Delicaseas, including Copper River. It's scrupulously fresh, and scrupulously de-boned (and even the Copper River never goes over $20/lb). My only problem with them is that they also sell farm-raised. This year there's a new booth run by folks who catch (troll, not net) Chinook out of Newport--I bought a few pounds last week ($10/lb) and it was delicious.

Interviewing and personalities
It's great to try to get a sense of a person's personality in an interview, but sometimes first impressions can be far off the mark. I once interviewed at a small firm, and one partner (of two--I would primarily be working with the other, alpha, one) I interviewed with seemed laid-back, not totally into working at all (ie., "if you have to work, law's okay, and it pays better than engineering"). He'd also done some community musical theater, and we had that in common. Right.
Okay, so cut to actual working conditions. The guy was invariably first in, last out. I don't think he was consciously trying to undermine me, but lots of things he did had that effect--didn't let the secretaries do my work, took calls from my clients when I wasn't in yet, etc. And he couldn't deal with the restaurant where we had our firm Christmas dinner one year (one of the nicest in town) because the food was too "weird." Evidently he would have preferred TGIFriday's.
A 20-minute interview will give you some idea, but no way it can tell you the whole story.

Speaking of Great TV
I hope all of you are watching the Surfer Chicks* reality show on MTV. Who could ask for anything more? I may have to try to remember when it's on next.
* Note: Not its real name, I think.
