I know plenty of non jewish people named Cohen. I also know non jewish people who have names that end in stein and baum and all sorts of other things.
They could be jewish, who knows. But you can't tell from the name.

To this I say, yes but you can stick your cat in the shower though he didnt know he needed one, he certainly doesnt want one, and he knows its gonna be oppressive and miserable. I think the Christians call this missionary work.

Ah. That makes perfect sense. And what happens when Zack wins (because I'm not on the show)? Or is he Jewish too, Sybil [slave told me i spelled this wrong, so i corrected it.]?

Edited to add: If his last name is Cohen (which I didn't know), that answers that. And I think you raise a good point on the producers' perceptions and how those perceptions are reflected by the contestant pool. But it's hard to take seriously the way you brought it up.

I was gonna say something like this but didn't and now just want to support Leagl's post.
Friends of mine (both Jewish and non) have commented in the past that with my last name (the one I was born with, not my married name you sillies) I "should be a Jew."
Being an agnostic who hails from Irish Protestant blood I find that funny. Just goes to show that the names in the USA don't mean that much when it comes to heritage.

Australian bands/artists that don't suck (not an exhaustive list, just the ones you've likely never heard of):
Paul Kelly and the Messengers (or the Coloured Girls, or the Dots)
Professor Ratbaggy
Uncle Bill
Weddings, Parties, Anything
Falling Joys
Vika & Linda
Bic Runga
Renee Geyer
Kasey Chambers
Beasts of Bourbon
Something for Kate
Mental as Anything
Christine Anu
Paul Kelly is Australia's best kept secret, followed closely by Renee Geyer, who is more deserving to be Kylie Minogue than Kylie Minogue. I think Kasey Chambers has acheived some success in the US. There is an admitted bias toward folk-rock in the above, but it's not universal.

I'm quite real, thank you. Jewish people have so intermarried over the years that it is quite common for what once were commonly names associated with Jewish people to not actually belong to Jewish people.
Everyone of those folks might be Jewish, who knows. But you cannot tell by someone's name.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but, aren't you only considered Jewish if your mother is Jewish? So, you can carry a "Jewish" last name, have a Jewish father and not be considered Jewish?
That said, I don't know any Cohens that aren't Jewish.

I am a MOT, a jewess, nay a jewess girl...and I have a name that is traditioanlly thought of as being other than jewish (sort of like if I was a jewish boy named Jesus or Christopher).
Apparently, my name was all the vogue among jewish girls in like 1890 and I am named after my grandmother who has that name.
Did you all know my husband converted? You'll need to know that for the sake of this story.
Once, we were at a partners house for dinner. Subject came up about the impending jewish holidays and the partner's wife said "I don't go to synangogue because I am not jewish". My husband pipes up "oh, me and BnB went the conversion route". The partner sat back in his chair, exhaled and said "Wow. I was wondering how a nice jewish boy wound up married to a girl named [insert my actually catholic sounding name here]."
So, it's not always in the name.
Have I told this story here before?...I have this weird sense of deja vu.

OK, lets assume you are right. Can I jump to conclusions based on the other facts we have such as his facial features, his accent, he is from Rosslyn, and what he does? Oh, and his name is Cohen? Yes its all generalizations, but they add up.
