Ican't speak for the Punjab, but I can definitely tell you the folks in Ukraine and Sudan don't think a "the" belongs in front of their names.

How do you feel about certain highways have a "the" in front of their names? The 10. The 101. The 405.

It's a horrible SoCal bastardization of the language. Worse than waiting "on" line.

Absofuckinglutely right. Dead giveaway of the socal transplants around here. Which is nice, actually, because then you know it's okay to punch them in the face.

Hey now. If it makes you like the place any more, I heard a rumor that PLF has relocated here. In fact, here's a photo of him from a recent red carpet event:

About the same as I feel about TheOhio State University.

I had heard/read that there was at least one player who is known to do that. Maybe it was in the ESPN piece I saw about racist chants and slurs targetted at players like Thierry Henry.

Of course, i have no idea which player, or whether it happened today.

Unless they say "the Sunset" or "the Banfield," and then you know they are Old Skool.

True dat.

I can hear the Blues Festival from my office. That does not inspire the billing of hours.

"Le Guen" is French for "wee baldy prick."

This is laugh out loud funny. Especially the Netherlands-Portugal game -- one of the most ridiculous displays of incompetence, thuggery, and cheating/diving I've ever seen in a high level sporting event. And Germany/Poland seemed to be a snoozer, but I was eating lunch and not watching it too closely.

You left off Tunisia-Saudi Arabia and US-Italy. Sweden-Trinidad was also pretty good, for a 0-0 game.

The Ukraine are NOT CRAP.

In point of fact, they were very unlucky not to have tied it up 1-1, and then Italy comes down and makes it 2-0 within that same minute or so. Maybe it's not luck -- maybe Buffon really is that good.

I can't believe the Italian goalie is named "Buffon." That's like the Yankees having a closer named "Jerkhoff."

What about doing things "on accident"? Is that a so-calism? Wherever it's from, if it's wrong, I no longer wish to be right.

Ukraine has dropped the "The" now that they are their own country.

What about "the Midwest"? "the East Coast"? "the West Coast"? "the tri-state area?" etc. Just saying.

Or the Jays having a closer named "B.J."
