This Always Happens

I get a call from a headhunter when I'm feeling pissed at my firm for one reason or another, and I go on an interview and I hit it off with the interviewer and I think, this seems like a nice place, I could be happy here. And then (although it hasn't happened yet in this particular case), I quit my job and I go work at the new firm for a while and things are always an improvement on the last firm.

This always happens. It's why I've been at 10 zillion firms. And probably why I've slept with so many men. Is it a character flaw to be open to new experiences? I should probably learn to be less open to temptation, but if I haven't learned that in almost 40 years, and things have worked out fine, why should I?

Carry on.

that'd be me with the PMs. I was thinking if we can get her exclusive on "what I eat" posts we can create a Diet Forum and move her over there. maybe i should have checked the plan with a mod first?

Temptation is good. One should usually be open to it.

Wanna have coffee?

How is this any different than say, gwinc posting on her sex life, or bnb about how rich, bitches she is, and hank about plf's duplicate posts? over and over and over? of which, I have no prob with, I'm just saying.

please do tell.

Hmph. The macadamia nut white chocolate cookie* that someone just brought me is suddenly much less satisfying.

*bonus: It was being sold as part of the stupid-ass United Wayesque fundraising campaign going on all month here. I hate, hate, hate being guilt tripped into giving money to charity by my employer. But happily, someone else bought the cookies from the rep and I didn't have to give a dime.

I would go for all of Art Brut, but you should at least make sure you get there for a few songs.
It's a venue thing. For all-ages shows, they herd the drinkers way to the back, for a less-than-ideal viewing and listening experience. Plus, the beer is a whole lot cheaper in the bar downstairs.

I am not tired with or depressed by any of those other categories of posts, with the possible exception of the Hank/PLF thing, of which I am slightly tired but also ever hopeful that the two of them, working in sweaty conjunction, will find new motherlodes of humor to tap. I understand that when one is trying to lose weight, one obsesses about food, and about what one does and doesn't eat. I just don't want to experience it. It would be barely tolerable only if it were me and my diet were a screaming success, and even then it would be a crashing bore to even the bestest of my friends if I were to open my mouth about it.

Fair enough. Although I have the zeal of a new convert [in Sbux, a really fat woman ordered the new chocolate coffee cake and i had a vision of the sugar turning to more fat] I will refrain from posting on dieting.

I didn't mean to depress/bore the s&*( out of you. Sorry.

***although I reserve the right to sometimes post about running and walking...I like those subjects.

I like coffee. But get your third tattoo first, and I'll get mine, and then we can have stripper coffee.

Hmm. Further investigation ("Spoon with the New Pornographers") suggests the drinking will be post show. I can do that.

I have three! I am going to get my fourth. But not until a certain condition precedent occurs.

So I can already have stripper coffee. Wheeeee!

They're playing here with the New Pornographers in a few weeks, so I'm afraid I may actually be a captive audience the next time I'm exposed to them.

Has anyone downloaded the new Radiohead? What did you pay? Is it good?
I like a few of their songs, but most of what I've heard by them doesn't do much for me.

Compare:

So, today, I totally wanted the chips. But I had carrot sticks instead. Tonight, I am going to have cottage cheese, because it's a good source of protein. I am allowing myself two Snackwell cookies -- only 6 calories each!

With:

The movie was so boring, I ended up blowing my ex in the theater. The only other time I had done that was with the ex-captain of the Canadian Olympic Hockey Team. In the meantime, I finally had wild sweaty sex with the guy from the gym.

If you do not admit right now that one of these subjects is compelling whereas the other is infinitely dull, then I will make it my personal mission to drive you from the board. I feel that strongly about it. You have a half hour from the time of this post to make your admission.
