I loved Munchausen, but then I've pretty much loved everything that Terry Gilliam has done.

One reviewer did point out AI contestants' obsessive use of melisma:
T HE cover of the new CD "American Idol Season 2: All-Time Classic American Love Songs" features grinning head shots of 11 of the television talent show's 12 finalists — an attractive, amiable-looking group that could be a high school glee club. Don't be fooled. Competitive karaoke is not for the fainthearted; "American Idol" contestants do not sing songs so much as attack them. In nearly every verse of every number on "All-Time Classic American Love Songs," the young singers pursue a strategy of violent Mariah Carey emulation. Their credo is clear: never hesitate to warble seven notes where one would suffice.

Ah, "the Citizen Kane of Alcoholic Clown movies."
Everyone in my family owns a copy on VHS, so at least they made back $60.

I made the mistake of watching Sea of Love with my mother who kept clearing her throat loudly whenever there was a hint they would have sex - not good.
Jack - I rented the Man who Wasn't There last weekend. I was very pleased I did. Thank you for recommending it.

The Woman Chaser?????
Was it Jack or Straight who recommended this? It sounds right up my alley so I went to Netflix with it. Netflix does not recognize the title. Just wanted to confirm I had this correct.
I guess if Netflix does not carry a film, it must be cult.

The final was disappointing. Last year, they sang two of the same songs, so we could better judge their skill rather than their style.
Paul Anka made me want to put a gun in my mouth. WTF was that about? Do the producers really need to continue to suck the dicks of Burt Bachrach and Paul Anka? Do you think someone owes them money?

I think it's going to be tougher on her playing partners, who are both rookies on the PGA, neither of whom hit off the tee much further than she. The huge galleries and the fishbowl press experience will probably be tougher for them to handle than her. She's used to galleries. Not Tiger sized galleries, like she will have this week, but bigger galleries than either of these two guys have ever seen.
The softened greens should do wonders for her. It should be interesting.

Poll Responses
Why not link to items that receive mentions in the various movie polls and music reviews?
The current hot topic is cult movies.
Str8 should be able to provide some music suggestions.

Is Clockwork really a "cult" movie? Don't get me wrong, I love the flick and a paper on it got me an "A" in some artsy class in undergrad because the fruity prof simply loved the movie but I didn't realize it counted as "cult." I probably just don't get the definition of "cult movie." Hasn't everyone seen Clockwork and thus it is not "cult?" Somebody please help me out here.

I Spit on Your Grave and Paris Trout because any film in which a person gets fucked with a bottle of booze MUST be a "cult movie."

Waiting for GUffman is an obvious example. I had to go to like ten video stores over a couple of years before I could get this video. Big Lebowski is another excellent example. And Office Space.

I actually saw Lebowski in the theatre. You mentioned awhile back that John Goodman should have won an Oscar. I agree. I'm serious.
Although I don't think it's quite a cult movie, it's in my top 5 of all time...

I actually met Mr. Greenwood in highschool when my dance squad danced the Liberty Bowl. Part of our routine included forming a pom-pom American flag by holding our arms over our head and shaking left-right-higher lower for the duration of the song, which he performed. I was proud to be an American, but DAMN did my arms hurt and I couldn't listen to that song for a long time afterword.

chai keyboard. I think that is my favorite movie line of all time. though "looking good lewis, feeling good todd" is up there and much of Bill Lumberg's lines are also. and owen wilson's compelete dialogue from Meet the Parents (and De Niro. "If we hit the ball, do you think you could spike it, Fokker?" "I'd have to be pretty high. " "I bet you would, Panama Red". and i too was serious that goodman deserved the oscar.

Coen Brothers
As both "Lebowski" and "The Man who Wasn't There" were both mentioned this morning, I may as well mention [again] that both "Barton Fink" and "Miller's Crossing" were finally released on DVD yesterday.
Am I the only person who thinks Fargo is their WORST film?
