Sorry about that. I meant it, if it helps, in an older brother kinda way. Because I sort of tried to help you out by explaining your joke to Alex, and then realized that you didn't want me to do that for you. Kind of like the time I kicked Ron Maretta's ass when you told me that he dumped you at the Spring Formal, only to find out that you still liked him. Whoops.

Donut Girl - Friday OFF!

So, for some reason, I've been bringing in donuts to the office quite a lot in the last few weeks. I'm probably trying to compensate for my underperformance on the job -- but that's not the point.

Yesterday, I brought in the cupcake overage I had from the weekend (I made cupcakes for my son to take to school for his birthday, but I had a lot left over, and there's no better place to get rid of food than the desk); however, nor is that the point.

Today at the donut shop(pe), they had only 11 donuts, so I got those, and then chose some other foodstuffs to make up for the shortage from the dozen that I ordinarily bring. There was much rejoicing at the assortment of pastry. Someone asked how I was going to top this tomorrow. At first, someone said, "There will be no topping." I then suggested strippers. That was met with much enthusiasm, until someone thought I would be unable to top that the next day. I then suggested strippers and blow for the next day. Everyone agreed that strippers and blow would indeed top strippers on their own.

After that, I said I deserve Friday off. Again, universal agreement.

(PS -- I was a little reluctant to mention the idea of strippers in the presence of the straight-laced guy on my desk. However, when some dudes from the next desk wandered over to rip into the donuts, with much marvelling at, and appreciation for, the treats, the straight-laced dude said shyly, "We're getting strippers tomorrow!" I guess I worried for nothing.)

So it's perfectly safe for people to eat the bedshit? I really think he was correct on the dangers of ingesting feces -- or, the rest of the world has bought into his insanity with the "must not dump raw sewage in drinking water" and "rimming can be dangerous" messages out there.

And it seems like there's a danger of stabbing one's internal organs if things get heated and enthusiastic.

Ya know, this was not an enjoyable discourse when you raised it yesterday. Don't bring it into today. The expert has spoken. Be done with it. Respond to dtb's cupcake story or something. Mmmm, donuts and cupcakes. And strippers and blow. Mmmm.

Edward Burns also sucks balls and together they have a little club for directors whose first movie received undeserved critical acclaim but which don't stand up to repeat watching, but then proceeded to make movie after movie and felt free to cast themselves in each one. Both shamelessly play to dumbshit audience loyalty (Smith to potheads; Burns to Irish-Americans and New Yorkers) which continues to work because no one has the courage to say they suck because everyone is afraid they will be told "But 'Clerks' was funny" or "But 'Brothers McMullen' was good" even though neither statement is true, which can be proved by enduring them again for the very first time. If PLF were here he would tell me I'm right. (Hi, Flower!)
Dissent. I quite liked the Brothers McMullen, but I liked She's The One *much* better, and I find that it holds up very well to repeated viewing.

And not just because I fall in love with Jennifer Aniston all over again every time I watch that movie, either.

Would it be so wrong to be a little late to work because I went out of my way to get donuts?

Next week, dtb instructs the desk on the proper hyphenation of "the boom-boom room."

The HR folks will be so happy to hear how well you are fitting in at the trading desk.

I find Edward Burns the person and actor annoying, but totally agree with you re: She's The One. Brothers McMullen was bad because the one guy did not deserve to end up with the chick, but he did anyway. She should have totally dumped his ass forever.
