Yeah - board is slow today.
I can't think of anything interesting to talk about. Though, this is nothing new for me.
Anyone going to see that dumb Jim Carey movie that opens this weekend? What are your memorial day plans?

Does anyone live in a city that regularly hosts the Superbowl? I'm involved in a number of organizations that are thinking about planning events for that week, and I'm looking to figure out what sorts of things will be going on during that week throughout the city. A friend of mine is organizing the Coca Cola event, and that thing looks like it's going to be pretty damned huge. I was brainstorming with the director of one of the organizations that I am involved in at lunch, and I think that we could throw a pretty fun fundraising event to coincide with the weekend, but I wanted to make sure that people wouldn't be distracted with the influx of out-of-town type events.

I would rather chew glass. If gravity stopped working for Jim Carrey and he flew off the face of the Earth, never to be seen again, I, for one, would be much happier.

(a) No. Maybe video if Mr. Lex insists.
(b) Sleeping, eating, and sitting here at the desk - just got a new client who dropped a big retainer. And bills go out next week - of course. When you actually get to keep the money the bills bring in, it becomes MUCH more fun to send them out. Oh and maybe some shopping for bigger clothes - I've been wearing the welcome out of the same two pairs of khakis lately. Oh, and bigger bras.

I'm hoping to stay home and avoid (a) traffic (b) Mr. Lex whining about why he doesn't have tickets (c) the drunk guys in traffic furthering the traffic problems to the point that the entire city comes to a standstill.

Spicing up the golf thread
The ESPN page for all things Annika is titled "Annika's hole-by-hole results." I think this would make an excellent title for the next installment of Swedish Erotica.
Ollie (do they still make "Swedish Erotica" pornos?) Ramone

Disclaimer: I am not in a CTRHtSB, but my family has done fundraisers and events at those and the final four, etc.
Your success will depend on your target audience and type of event. Are you aiming to attract out-of-town people or local people?
There are a lot of parties and a lot of people clamoring for attention, so you need a fantastic hook to get people to pick you. It also helps if you have a very famous athlete involved. You could also partner with a group reknowned for their functions -- then people will show because they recognize the promoter, dj, club, pr link, etc.
E/O
Edited to add: semi-famous athletes will show up if you pay their appearance fee. Unless you are friends with the very famous athlete, you might end up having to pay em, too.

Speaking of Sweden
Steve-O from Jackass is sitting (and shitting) in a Swedish jail after telling a local newspaper that he had swallowed a weed-filled condom before entering the country. No one ever accused Steve-O of being terribly bright, I suppose.

You are so right, Ty. How this moron still commands a hefty paycheck is beyond my comprehension. Dead bodies on the CSI/CSI:Miami shows act better than Jimbo.
I see I have competition for Ty's scaly, green body.

Of Golf and Star Wars
Apropos of the current golfing discussion, I'm not sure how many of you saw the story in the NYT about the kid who made a video of himself doing star wars, lightsaber-like moves with a golf ball retriever. Apparently, the video spread all over the internet and give many people a good laugh at the price of the kid's humiliation.
Well, a guy who runs the website www.waxy.org (a tech-focused weblog) decide to take up a donation for his fellow "geek" and ened up raising over $4,000 for the kid. That should take a bit of the sting out of his humiliation. I guess the kid gets the last laugh.
At any rate, if you're up for a chuckle, you can view the Jedi Remix Video and the Original Unedited Video on our site. They are pretty funny. There's a bit of sound, but it's not too loud. Still, consider yourself warned.
Here's a poll: which one is funnier, the edited version or the original?
I don't want to sway your answer, but I'd say the unedited is funnier.

The original is much funnier. Poor kid. I think he even showed a little butt crack at one point. The dance-like moves are hilarious.
I sincerely hope he invests part of that money in a high-end hooker.
