Re: Implanting Bill Gates's Micro-chips In Brains For Over 20 Years!
John Eastman and Ted Cruz both clerked for Luttig the same year. Those chambers must have been a treat.

Song of the Day
We’re back. First, fucking yay for RT! Wishing you all the joy.
It’s snowing here, so I’m going with a little taste of the Caribbean. Is it trite to have a popular Bob Marley song for the SOTD? I don’t care.
Kid, what you got in that bag?
What you got in that other bag you got hanging there?
What you say you got?
I don’t believe ya.

Trivia: why did The Wailers (the actual original band) break up?
They were getting popular and Peter Tosh and Bob Marley wanted to tour Europe. But Bunny Wailer refused to "get on that big silver bird."

Can you blame him? I try to avoid those flying silver death tubes myself.
For today’s SOTD, we have something to soothe what ails ya. Did you wake up feeling anxious, alienated, full of angst? Well, take a deep breath and let Art Jerry Miller smooth out the rough edges of your psyche with this soulful slice of instrumental mellow funk. You’ll be glad you did:

Haven't been on one in more than two years. Getting on one Saturday. Wish me luck.

You're better for not having done so. I flew twice during Covid and it'll spoil you. Airports were empty. Like, almost literally. No lines. No waits.
Now I've heard it's crowded as shit.

More crowded than pre-Covid IMHO.

Good luck!
The SOTD is from the gifted South African singer with the beautiful voice, Miriam Makeba. Known for her “hit” song “Pata Pata,” I have instead chosen another song from that album, Ha Po Zamani. I love the lilting melody, and wondered when I head it what she was singing that had her so full of emotion that her voice was almost cracking. So I looked for a translation. Like many of Makeba’s songs, the uplifting music disguises lyrics of defiance:
I am drunk because of the Afrikaner white man
I am homeless because of the whites
I am a hobo because of the whites
Run, white man
We’ll come back
We’ll come back for our homes

Flew Delta 2x domestically and Jet Blue once internationally to a place with a negative test and vax requirement.
All three times, people were pretty civilized.

Song of the Day
I will admit that the most I ever really thought about Lou Rawls was when I would hear the Pharcyde song “Ya Mama” when Imani raps: “Cause you was beatboxing for Lou Rawls, in some bright red boxer drawers.”
Then I heard his cover of the Sam Cooke song “Bring It On Home to Me.” It starts with some typical Lou Rawls crooning for the intro, but quickly moves into a propulsive R&B stomp, with the increasingly dense horn lines throughout the song ramping up the emotion until the ecstatic finale. A good way to get Monday morning going. A little trivia - Lou Rawls actually sang back up on the original Sam Cooke version.

I flew to TCOTU. Jury is out on the civilized thing, but my expectations are high.

i will say, despite the mandate there were people sitting in completely empty gate areas with no mask. I am not bothered by someone 50 feet away with no mask, but wondered why no one enforces the rule? Also, still lots of "nose don't count" people.

The people who can't figure out how to put a mask over their nose irritate me to no end. So lame.
Dinner last night at an Austrian place south of Prospect Park, Werkstatt, a block from my brother's apartment. Highly recommended! If I lived there I'd eat there every night. I'd be rotund and speak with an Austrian accent.

What is that called now? I don't think Park Slope is South? All those areas surrounding the Park have been going through repeated renaming.
Anyhoo, I'd love to try it next time there. But be warned, in 2008 we had an exchange student from Wien. In before times we would visit every few years. We hit the jackpot as the family felt indebted and the dad owned one of the top galleries selling to museums in Europe. To say the least the man was connected and took us to amazing restaurants. All that to say, I have fairly high standards AND that cuisine is a sadly underrepresented one here.
