I think women will date below the floor where other factors are involved, but as a sort of "hey, nice-looking guy, fuckable" thing, there's a floor. And, in a bar or whatever, a woman isn't going to go for the guy who looks best in e.g. a still photograph (even if he's not yet at the "pretty" stage) -- it will probably have more to do with facial expression, interactions with other people, etc.

Ty posted this on PB. My daughter came back from New Zealand with a logo of the Hakaman- it's like the sort of sumo looking stance the black jersies were taking at first. she was in Dunedin. she had no idea what the logo was for, but now I know it's the football team.

It's pretty cool pre game posturing.

I assure you that all those places, much like New York, have their fair share of empty-headed, gym worshippers who care about nothing other than their looks, the guy they're screwing's looks, drugs, house music and their clothes. I have overheard many, many idiotic conversations that make it obvious that they are no different than any other demo when it comes to brains, culture, looks and depth.

That said, there are many very intelligent, cultured and witty gay men as well. I just don't think the numbers are any different than those of the general population.

I do find the whole "own the word" thing odd. In both contexts. But I'm not really in the mood for that discussion again. I will say that most (all?) of my gay friends do not throw around "fag" that way. And some of them are really offended by the use of that word. And of "fag hag", which I find generally unoffensive if used to describe me, but I've never been persecuted for having gay friends. But I'm not surprised to hear that there are gay people who do use "fag" regularly.

Another analogous situation is the use of the word "cunt". I'd never use it to describe myself or anyone else. But there are feminists (and maybe just some crazy beotches) who throw it around in the same way that "fag" and the n word are thrown around within those communities. Would they stop by to participate in a chat board community where a bunch of male posters were jokingly calling each other "cunts"? Maybe long enough to flame them all. But I doubt they'd look upon the use fondly.

there is this that could account for some differences with gays:

Deciding to live as a gay guy takes recognizing something about themselves that many people would not want to recognize. To follow through on it might point to a bit higher intelligence or more education than the ones who lie to themselves. This is pure theory.
