I'm a "can't take the heat" pussy. We're like the town mouse and the country mouse. Or Jack Spratt and his wife.

Half-assed means "a thing half done"... "incomplete," "a thing represented as finished, but actually not finished", thus the past tense (I guess thats a "passive" past tense, if there is such a thing). Lame-ass means "very lame" in the present, thus the present tense.

I doubt you would spend much time in the places where you'd run into something like that, though. I'm quite sure there are spots like that in PA as well.
If I moved there, I would live in Scottsdale. Scottsdale isn't too bad, although when I was there last, there was some local election going on and they had those yard signs up advertising themselves, you know? And each sign said something like, "Conservative for State Senate," "Super-ultra Conservative for State Senate," "The Conservativist Conservative for State Senate," or "I'm much more Conservative than all these other wannabe Conservatives for State Senate." I don't think Democrats are even allowed to visit for more than a couple of weeks. But your life is never in danger in Scottsdale.
We actually went out to some clubs (surprising club scene in Scottsdale) when we were there last and, it's all hip hop, of course (not that that says anything about how progressive someplace is anymore).

Well, yes, until you need them to give you water, or a ride, or something that doesn't involve being mean.

Well, if you mean people who say the kinds of things TM was talking about, sure, but I'm guessing you just mean people who don't live in big cities in general, and that, I think, is your loss. You're bypassing some great folks.

Scottsdale is where I'm visiting. I guess my cousin has lucked into some properties down there and struck gold...
So I'm going to take a peek and see - like a good lawyer - if I can't find a way to leech something out of it. He's a good egg and has been saying he needs a person with a law degree for years.
As to PA, dude, the middle of PA is crazy with degenerate cultural attitudes. I'd suggest its as bad as the Deep South rural areas I've been to.

What if we add Rosie O'Donuts as an option?

I mean the people TM was talking about. Rural people are generally very nice, IMO. I grew up in a semi-hick area. I actually like decent rural folk, and you'd be surprised how progressive some can be (in fairness, my hick area was just under two hours from Manhattan, so it was a bit more cosmopolitan than a traditional "hick" area).

Some of my favorite people are two hours away from tarred roads. But, okay, the people TM spoke of suck. Agreed.

poll from the other night went unanswered. fringey would like it answered. I know a half dozen of you have met her. (PM her if you think she doesn't want it answered.)
- Fringey is closer in looks to:
1 Sally Struthers in All in the Family
2 Sally Struthers in feed the Children commercials
3 Kirstie Alley in Cheers
4 Kirstie Alley in Fat Actress
5 Divine in Hairspray
I've always seen her as sally s. about a year after All in the Family was cancelled, and she was still working out hopeful to get another job.

Or Hank could just PM fringe, set up a visit in his hometown or hers, and find out how slanderous his repeated posting of that jail-bird image really is.

Someone sent me seomthing about those girls a year ago and I responded back with some lurid pap about what I'd like to do with them in a motel.
I should have read the article before responding.
The response was a quizzical "What?"
