Don't drink sugary shit and stick to booze. Wine and champagne can be killer hangovers because there's so much sugar in both. Same goes for sugary mixed drinks (if you need to sweeten your drinks to mask the booze, you should switch to a better booze...

Amen.
I stick to vodka and soda. Nothing sweet.
The worst hangover I ever had was from drinking fortified wine, so avoid port for an all evening drunk.

Here's a question...
I'm outside Penn Station yesterday and I'm in the cab line. I'm late for a hearing and the line is taking forever. I bolt up to the corner before the cab line - just outside where the people in line can still see me - and I hail one of the cabs which would have otherwise gone to someone standing in line. Then I ride past everyone still in line.
I felt guilty at the moment, but then I thought "Wait a minute... I took the initiative to run up to the corner rather than stand in line waiting, so my actions were ethically kosher." What would be your ruling?

My ruling -- uncool, dude.
I'm surprised the people waiting in line didn't lynch you. (That's what happens to those who try to pull that stunt at the corner of 45th and Vandy (outside Grand Central) -- it's an "unofficial" cab stand, because cabs can't go into what used to be the cab pick-up area due to the placement of the impenetrable fortress of anti-terrorism barriers that have been set up there.)
Edited to fix another GHASTLY spelling error. What is WRONG with me?!?! (Rhetorical question, folks. I don't have all day...)

Just reading the description of this makes me want to hurl. Massive amounts of bourbon, pot and nitrous in a concentrated period? Ugh.

I can pretty much drink champagne all night and not get a hangover. It's one of my most favorite drunks. It's different than other alcohol, but I can't explain how.
A wine hangover can kick your ass. Especially red wine.
And the trick to drinking water the next day is determining exactly how much you can drink and still keep it down. I mean for those really really bad (read 4 doubles and a pretzel for dinner) type of hangovers. It's a true balancing act. Too much? Try again. Sometimes even a mouthful is too much.
( please don't go there, I know it's a big fatty down the middle)

I've never found that to actually relieve the pain, but, having said that, I'd rather be in pain and having sex than just be in pain.

Yeh, there might have been some hyperbole there. And some alcoholism.
BTW, I love the "a gay" thing. It always cracks me up when someone calls them "the gays" or says something like "Well, Bill over there is a 'gay'." It just sounds so, no pun intended, queer. Its akin to Howard Stern's use of "the AIDS."

No. Although (1) I did watch an episode or two of Mole 2. But that's the exception that proves the rule. And (2) one of these days I'm gonna buy a kayak.

Bender, eh? Here's a great way to scramble the brains...
Chill a bottle of bourbon (preferrable 80 proof stuff). Place three other friends around a table. Open the bottle and pass it in circles doing shots until its done. Usually this takes about 40 min to an hour. Pass joint in opposite direction of shot glass. If anyone gets caught holding both, he must do the Stonewall Jackson (inhale, hold, do shot, release smoke).* I've tried a lot of buzzes in my day, but this lays a primer like nothing else. I obviously don't do it too much these days as its more polite to fix drinks instead, but this process, known as a "bourbon club" is simply the best buzz you can get for under $40. By the time you're ready to go out, you feel like Jesus Christ. And you don't need to drink much more. A few beers is all you'll need, tops.
* There is a variation which includes also taking a nitrous hit before releasing the smoke, but that's a bit too much most of the time.

And when do you start playing asshole?

Even though you are at the pre-kayak stage, you have kayak tendancies, and so your non-watching is within the norm.

The steam is hurting my ears!
I am thisclose to giving the micromanaging PITA in my office an earful. This is the same person whom I wanted to bludgeon a couple of weeks ago. He's trying to test me in the way an asshole partner would do with a 6pm Friday "urgent" project dump, but he is not even close to having the status or the influence or the authority of a partner. We are having a test of wills and the more I resist, the more he tries to test me.
Please remind me again why I should not tell him what I think of him.
Also, is there an objective definition for insubordination? I am certain that a termpered response to this person's conduct would not constitute such, but I would like some backup.

Even crazier, some kayakers have been known to watch a little reality tv. They tend to keep it on the downlow though. Don't want to be expelled from the kayaking clique.
