I really hope I am simply not catching your sarcarsm because you are being an ass. I have never believed my marriage to be a mistake. I have never believed my divorce to be a mistake.

I tend to agree, although I guess the argument would go: You made a solemn vow to be with this person forever and to take the steps you needed to take to make that happen.

If you don't think that you need to work and work and work to keep that promise no matter how much you change, then it's not a mistake. So, depending on how you think about how serious that vow is, you may or may not think making it was a mistake.

What do you mean? Is he short?

Yes. He looked like a little old man.

I am sad to say that it made me happy that he checked me out though.

I do not think I made a mistake when I married Mr. Kiss and I do not think I made a mistake when I divorced him. At all! I think I did the right things at the right times. Just because five years later we were not the same people we were when we tied the knot does not mean the marriage was a mistake to begin with, in my mind.

But seriously, do most people view a failed relationship as a mistake? I really never have.
I don't know whether most people do, and I think that generally most significant things one goes through help make one the person one is today, but really, there are outlier situations where perhaps, in retrospect, it would have been better if it had never happened. Like hooking up with Jeffrey Dahmer. Or being born.

I don't doubt this. That said, it is difficult for me to consider Bruce Willis these days without thinking about IDLYITW's tribute:
  • Jesus. Bruce Willis' penis should be dipped in gold and put in some sort of museum because ever since he and Demi Moore broke up, it's seen more 20 year old kitty than the Sultan of Brunei.

I liked him in the Seagram's Golden Wine Coolers era. I think this was when he was doing Moonlighting!!!!

I have always hated Cybil Shepard. I think she is a pompous ass. A lot like PLF.

Absolutely.

Since I am all over the board today (on a particularly heated phone depo -- exciting!) I'll update on my living situation.

BF moved in and I like having him around. He is not speaking to his sponsor, but aside from that it is all good. So far I am very happy that I let him move in and I anticipate being very sad when he moves out. I was out of town for work and I came back to a full fridge, clean sheets and towels, a clean place and an exuberant "WELCOME BACK." Nice!

I don't really think of any failed relationship as a mistake. It met a need at the time.
My marriage was a mistake. My divorce was not a mistake. Not all failed relationships are mistakes, necessarily, but that particular one of mine was. A doozy.

Indeed. The way she goes on and on about the unsolicited cunnilingus. Pompous. Ass.

I wish I were him when he dipped it into Jane March in Color of Night:

You do know that "failure" has several meanings, don't you? You seem to think it limited to a loss. However, "broken" is an equaly valid meaning. As an example, The shiny new SUV you drive around today will FAILl to start some morning in the future. That just means that it's usefullness is done, at least until it is repaired for someone else to use. But surely, the SUV did operate fine to transport you over those many years, and it's purchase might well not have been a mistake at all.

You might want to start breezing though dictionary.com before you make these word timmy posts. Now I'm thinking I need to go see it there aren't other meanings or "ironic" under which you are wrong.
