I know, I know, off of the thong topic, BUT, article in today's plain dealer about brobeck and whether it could happen in cleveland.
http://www.cleveland.com/business/pl...6725266582.xml
Kind of a stretch to try and compare Cleveland firms to Brobeck, IMHO.

i agree with you, mr. violins that its rediculous to compare brobroke with cleveland firms.
but its really interesting to hear from an arter & hadden partner about another firm did wrong. at least the arter guy didn't say that brobeck made a huge mistake by moving into several new markets - and spending more concentrating on trying to become a national firm rather than shoring up their home base such that the problems in the "branch offices" - especially their washington office (which went from something like 75 attorneys to 20) is causing damage in their ohio base.

No, ruthie. First things first. You're right. I wouldn't look good in the uniform because I clearly don't have the legs for it.
Actually I was pretending to be the original funnier CTD from the evilboard. I thought the Mr./Miss/Mrs. thing would add to some of the stilted formality I always sensed in 'em's posts. I was bored to death today and spent a lot of time perpetuating this goof. As a bonus, I pissed off Thurgreed, but that wasn't really that hard to do. But hey, I kept the damn board moving.
Back in the day when I went to catholic school, we had nuns in charge of teaching and corporal punishment. Hard-bitten, full habit, take-no-shit brides-'o-jesus. While I must admit, I have a fondness for attractive ladies in short plaid skirts and mary janes based upon my memories as a student, I cannot think of anything even remotely sexual or appealing about those two images juxtaposed.
Call me what you will, I'm really very easy to get along with.

Interesting article, but it made me think about something. The article made mention of the firms that had to sack attorneys for one reason or another.
It made it seem like all of the firms who had to make cutbacks because of the economy, but a number of them used different reasons for doing so. More than one firm representative stated that they reduced headcount because of staffing needs, or those amorphous "performance issues". I'm wondering if either of you has a take on whether someone cut because of these performance issues is permanently stigmatized because of it.
Granted, I know there are screwups everywhere, but if you are a BIGLAW attorney and are shown the door for those pesky performance issues does that mean you'll spend the rest of your career as an outcast? And to your knowledge, have attorneys that have been let go because of this either landed on their feet or more importantly, been deserving of this dubious honor?
As a side note, I notice Brobeck paid for a presentation by CNN's Willow Bay, and I thought to myself, "Willow Bay! If ruthie ever changes her posting name again, that would probably be perfect.

What really helps NYD, is for me to visualize you as any one of these women wearing any one of these outfits. As you can see, schoolgirl is covered quite well.

Jesus, now I do feel old. I won't be so indelicate as to ask your age, but I would speculate you are a twentysomething? However, if you have ever seen reruns of the old Bewitched TV series on TV Land, he is an actor who played Samantha's Uncle Arthur. He was also the center square on the original Hollywood Squares game show.

Oh, come on. I was just teasing. Besides, if I said anything, you would then respond with something hurtful, like calling me fat.
