I think this sort of attitude is usually part of jealousy. in effect, you think you deserve all he has more than he does- or you would if only your father had forced you to play golf every day from the time you turned 3.

I don't deserve anything. I'm much too lazy to deserve what he has.
I've played golf since I was 10. I haven't improved since I was 14. Seriously, 16 years later...no improvement. I have no idea why I keep playing.

That must be some damn magical horseshit.
If I could come back as either me or Tiger Woods, I'd take his life. Every. Day. Of. The. Week.

Do you have kids?
I wouldn't come back as Tiger b/c then I wouldn't have my kids -- or my wife (who, unfortunately for her, is the right one for me).
I admire the martyrs that enable my daily existence.
CDF (I clearly don't have the attitude to be Tiger, either)

Uh...I don't get it. You would want his life, while still being you? Yeah. Me too.
Would I want his life and have to be him instead of me? That's a tough call. He's got a pretty good life. I think his prissy attitude when someone takes a photo of him in his back swing and his overly-faked media aw-schucks persona are fucking stupid. But as far as his competitive attitude, drive and focus go, they're pretty impressive.
I think I could live with being a little prissy and dorky in public if I could be myself when not in front of the cameras, especially if I could step on Phil and Vijay and Sergio and any chump on the course.
Supposedly, he can bench over 300 pounds. I'll believe that shit when I see it.

Who do you think has more fun? You or him? I bet it's you. And don't say that he plays a game for living, b/c he never looks like he's having fun out there. When was the last time he got completely smashed, or did something ridiculously irresponsible? Probably never.
Mickelson would be a tougher decision than Tiger. His wife is just as hot. Cute kids. He's usually enjoying himself on and off the course. Laid back "aw shucks" attitude. Isn't (overtly) completely full himself. I'd take his life over Tiger's.

Just as Klosterman said in one of his espn.com columns, his attitude and drive are characteristics that we hate in the normal world. Remember those overcompetitive people from HS sports? The guys who tried to outrun you on a fun-run after practice? The front-row tools in law school? They were fucking douchebags.

I don't have kids. I have a great boyfriend, but I bet if you posed the same question to him, he would have the exact same response that I have.
Hypothetically, would you rather be a work-a-day attorney (cue the sebby rant), living comfortably in Los Angeles with great bf/gf and cute (except to strangers) cat OR successful-beyond-belief golf pro, traveling the world to play golf, with a hot supermodel wife and more money than God (or Oprah)?
Hmm. Tough choice. Let me sleep on that one.

How do you know he isn't prissy and dorky in private?
I have a buddy who is 5'11" and 170. Used to put up 325 (at that weight). He was crazy strong.

That's a good thing b/c, if you have it, you'd better be the best in world at what you do or people are going to hate you.

Admit it. If you were Mickelson, you'd just stay inside and play with your boobs all day.

Fuck that. I'd rather be Tiger than Phil any day. Phil is Tiger's bitch and he has man-breasts. His "aw schucks" attitude is probably as contrived as Tiger's "golly gee" bullshit.
I like Phil, but he's mostly a loser. And if he hadn't copied Tiger's approach to the game a couple of years ago, he'd still be whining about all the "best golfer without a major" questions.
And I think Tiger has lots of fun. Winning isn't as fun as losing sucks, but it's still fun. Being the best in the world probably doesn't suck either. Crushing people on the course is probably very satisfying. Don't make the mistake that focus and concentration when playing a sport mean you're not having fun.
I'm sure he enjoys himself immensely. He's like Jordan. He'll let go, but only when he has complete control of the surroundings. I think that's kind of sad, but it seems to have worked well for Jordan and presumably it is working well for Tiger too.

The overcompetitive guys in individual sports? No. I don't remember those guys. They got ignored because they played individual sports.
The supercompetitive, skilled guys who played on the team and wanted to win could get out of hand at times, but I wouldn't say I hated them. If they hogged the ball or acted like dicks to their teammates, that's a different story, but whenever Tiger has teamed up with a team (Stanford, Ryder or Presidential Cup), he hasn't exhibited those tendencies.
And Tiger is no front-row tool in law school. He's the guy who sits in the back, listens, avoids the law school library and the study group sessions, studies at home and comes in and aces every test he's given, takes the clerkship at the Supreme Court and writes his ticket through hard work and natural ability to wherever he wants to go.
