Absinthe Cocktail for Sale in Britain

Potent Absinthe Mix Stirs Up Controversy

LONDON (Reuters) - Absinthe, the fiery tipple with purported hallucinogenic properties, has stirred up fresh controversy in Britain where it will go on sale in nightclubs and bars next month packaged to be mixed with beer.

"Deco" comes with a small bottle of Kronenbourg lager with a shot of absinthe attached. The idea is to down the 45 percent-strong absinthe and drink the five-percent strength lager as a chaser.

Popularly held responsible for painter Vincent Van Gogh's mutilation of his own ear, absinthe has been banned in many countries but was never outlawed in Britain.

Are they using the fake Absinthe without the wormwood? I thought the real stuff was only legal in Spain.

On topicish: products!

I was just turned onto a new line of skin products by my fabulous new aesthetician, Epicuren Discovery. Not overly spendy, enzyme based line. ANyone try it?

Dawson's Creek--Plea for Help

Okay, who did Joey pick on the series finale, Pacey or Dawson?

I'm utterly embarrassed to be asking this so please be kind. I'm too wussy to Google it myself on my computer because I'm afraid it will pop up in the list of recent searches if anyone else here happens to use it.

At least def'ns 2 and 4 would allow for an "asian fetish." The (apparent) fact of it is that he has a particular attraction to women who are asian. We can argue whether it's "abnormally obsessive," but I don't see how you (or atticus, or whoever it was) can say it's definitely not a fetish.
Definition 2 involves fetish's non-sexual meaning. So does Definition 4, which becomes merely a value judgment when applied to sexual arousal.

I like brunettes with pale skin and medium-sized breasts. Is that a fetish? I've never slept with a redhead, but a co-worker told me they taste different, and I'm curious to know whether that's true. Is that a fetish? Billions of Asian men will only sleep with Asian women. Is that a fetish?

We, a majority white society, categorize people who are attracted to Asians as "fetishists." This accomplishes nothing other than dehumanizing Asians. I think we're putting a little too much stock in which aspects of attraction get their own subcategories on persiankitty.com.

Pacey. She loves both of them, but she picked Pacey. Something about Jen's death showing them both that they had to be happy now, with what the reality of life was, and that they were happy together. The final scene was Pacy and Joey watching Dawson's movie in which the Joey character and the Dawson character get together and then calling Dawson to say the movie was perfect. So they sort of made everyone happy.

That said, I had not seen Dawson's Creek for about a season (at least). Who is the father of Jen's baby? What is that whole story? I didn't even know she was pregnant?

SFTM: if I were you, I'd be pretty embarrassed by this article. If West is too pure of heart to be associated with GA's, it shouldn't have bought the site in the first place.

You were afraid you'd get sued, so you started deleting posts with content that you were afraid was too specific, defeating the purpose of the boards. You also deleted some smut. However, as I recall, some of the "potty mouth" words you deleted were "P@t@r Th@tt@m" and "www.l@wt@lkers.com".

Some folks decided that an alternative site would be more useful, and put a lot of hard work into setting it up. You plant an article smearing them, engaging in the very behavior you were afraid might happen here. You then accuse THEM of failing to "grow up." Here's a hint - your strategy for improving your corporate image is backfiring.
I was wondering when Infirmation would begin to see LawTalkers as a threat. Despite such attacks, the problem for both boards is that there is a dearth of practical and timely information about firms in the current legal economy.

There will always be a need for information about firms, salaries, QOL, etc... What we need even more are people who are willing to supply such information.

Goddammit! I hate being robbed of a sappy predictable ending! A charming fuckup like Pacey is the kind of guy you date, not marry!

No idea who's Jen's baby's dad. I'm shocked she chose to have it.

She picked Pacey, though she admitted that she and Dawson were "soulmates."

Edited to say "scroll, then post, scroll, then post."

The series finale was five years in the future from the last episode. Jen and Jack and Gran had moved to New York to live with Jen's mom, and Jen's then boyfriend (I'm blanking on his name) was also living in New York. In the interrum, it appears, Jack moved back to Capeside and hooked up with Doug. Jen drunkenly mentioned that her boyfriend knocked her up and left her, but she didn't mention who it was.

Oh, relax. It's a puff piece about West. Who knows whether it was always designed to be that way? Considering how many people she interviewed, and how none of it was used, Ms. Smith probably wrote a longer piece and it got cut down because it doesn't make for a very good story, except to us, and we're not the center of the target demographic for the American Lawyer. Otherwise, her editor should be pissed about how much time she wasted to get to this finished product.

My view is that it's a pretty rare journalist who would really think that a big corporation is right and a bunch of anonymous poo-flingers are wrong. It's hard for a PR flak to convince someone making <$40K that corporations are telling the truth. In any event, there were people on this board making the same point --- that the anticorporate purpose of the boards was fundamentally inconsistent with corporate ownership, and another move was inevitable. Making it about cuss words is just a convenient trope.

Never heard of it, but I am on the cusp of replenishing my supplies, so I want recommendations.

Oh, and my hairdresser has just started stocking a new fab shampoo by Dikson. It's a great product for color-treated hair, and, of course, part of the allure is that it is not widely carried. Link: http://www.planethair.it/sottoMar.as...=Muster-Dikson

I was recently talking to one of our PR guys, and he was explaining to me that in the last five or so years, requests from the media for stories have changed dramatically. The reporters and producers expect everything to be ready to go and prepackaged. Interviews set up, consents obtained, and a press release or two ready to be cribbed. The PR guy in my company said that he's been in the media spin business for 18 years, and he's never seen the reporters so eager to just take what's handed to them.

I'd seen that "internet has grown up" comment at least two or three months ago in another publication, and it's obvious that West has it's prepackaged story ready for when a reporter comes calling about this issue. Deviations from whatever they've already put together will not be considered.

Maybe we should have our own little press package that we can put out there on the split from Infirmation. List posters who would be happy to be interviewed, put a couple of good quotes, maybe a timeline of the events. I can't imagine that there will be that many more stories about this issue, but you never know when something like that could be useful to counter the West media machine.

Huh. I am really confused now. I caught just enough of the finale to know that Joey picked Pacey but I had no idea that it wasn't "real time." Weird. I guess I'll have to catch reruns.

I do not find Pacey or Dawson attractive, or Jen for that matter. The only decent looking person on that show is Joey, who is annoying as hell.

That's an excellent idea. I've vetted press releases and I am always surprised at the number and quality of national newspapers who would publish our released with little or no alteration or reporting.

Atticus, you do not get it. The fetish is focusing on something nonsexual (ie a race and its characteriftics; feet) and becomine obsessed with it, which can mean, only dating it, or only jerking off to it. But you are right that theperson who harbors such an asian fetish is dehumanizing the asians. This is prboably why an asian chick can spot a rice daddy a million miles away and will avoid him

As for your clear denial on this matter, it is what it is. Live with it, its who you are. For example, I forwarded the Prudence clip to my rice daddy friend (a ph.D is psychology- Dr. Rice Daddy). Now this guy is the first to admit he is an asian festishist and is actually toying with writing a book on how to be a successful rice daddy in manhattan (for example, he actually majored in chinese in college and taught ESL to chinese students in hopes of meeting FOB asians- backfired bc he could not tell by their names if they were male or female). Anyway, his response to the story , where Prudy suggested therapy was "wouldnt it be ironic if they ended up in my office?".

Wear your fetish proudly, Atticus. Just dont dehumanize any asians along the way.
