Here's a really good thread about what Musk would face if he bought Twitter.

I've congratulated a couple friends there.

Re: Song of the Day
Today was my infusion day and we had a downright pleasant time on the mask front.
Yes, my oncologist is really upset with what is going on in the world on masking.
But after the infusion we went out to lunch to get something in me to flush out the poisons. And when my wife told them I was immunocompromised they found an empty back area for me, the staff masked up, and I got my safe space.
It is possible for a lot of people to be regularly not masking but to make the right effort at the right time and just be good and decent about it.
A couple of patrons who needed to pass through the area to get to the bathroom masked on the way, too, they saw we were, and they said, ok, then, let's take care.
But it was cambridge, so a bunch of libtards all around.

The shit really shouldn't be optional. What is the inconvenience of wearing a mask unless you are eating, really? Certainly not more inconvenient than wearing a swimsuit at the beach and that's required in most places and the harm from seeing my nuts is nonexistent as opposed to breathing a virus.

Criticize their crappy vaccine if you want to find fault, but it wouldn't be becoming endemic if the rest of the world had handled it as well as China.

If I am ever in charge, you are the in the first of the, not as in the poem says Communists or Socialists, but totalitarian, autocratic, illberal, despotic self-righteous tools to be treated the same as the Chinese treat their so-called citizens.
Seriously, I have never met you and I don't want to, because you need to be kicked in the nuts so many times that you can never procreate again. And, if your current crotchfruit parrots you in any way, em needs to be sterilized.

Hey Icky, did you ever share a bill with Husker Du back in the day?

I saw him / that show here last Sunday (with many years Slave). One old gay punk man, his catalog, and a lot of distortion. Awesome.
Edit - I saw Husker Du in 1983 (high school) at Foothill College, opening for the Dead Kennedys. It seems someone even made a setlist -https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/husker-du/1983/foothill-college-los-altos-hills-ca-4bdfcb52.html

A large law firm, originally SF-based. Maybe still, but now national or international.

I saw them in '88 or '89 in Boston, at the Orpheum. Great show.

Got Tonga in 3!
The pacific islands are generally tough and there are a lot of them. My first guess got me to the islands, then it was just, oh, shit, which ones can I remember.

I can't fathom that someone thinks that taking bags of pets and clubbing them all to death is "done what is necessary".
Sorry, they'd have to kill me to do that to my pet. Pets recover quite quickly and well from Covid, ask me how I know.

The pet thing is disgusting, but hardly unexpected. Extreme, blunt fixes seem to be the CCP’s favored approach to everything.
But what I think Less was flagging was the utter stupidity of Adder’s comment. Adder appears to believe that if we just locked down hard enough, long enough, and got vaccinated, we could have killed Covid.
Well, the Chinese, geniuses that they are, did that. And how’s the working out for them?
There is no solution, no eventuality of Covid, that doesn’t involve it becoming endemic. Idk how the fuck Adder concludes that the virus’s mutations to weaker variants is a bad thing. But I also don’t care. If you think something that stupid, you’re not worth addressing or considering.

Well, also if we would have glassed the earth we would have killed Covid. In retrospect no individual place's "lockdown" will ever be successful unless the whole world locks down. And there's a difference between eliminating high transmission situations that most of the world did and welding people's doors shut.
