I'm sorry. I already picture Bilmore as Dennis Franz. You'll have to find another bad cop.
Perhaps this guy?

"dumbkopf", while technically an accurate translation, is not a term used much conversationally in German. I learned this last week.

Based on that, Obama got McCain wrong.
OTOH, McCain's position is that we should keep occupying Iraq and fighting Iraqis until they stop fighting back, and then stay 100 years on top of that. Sounds like a lot more than 100 years to me.

As Ty@50 will tell you, advancing age brings with it physical and mental changes. Haven't you ever wondered why his posts aren't nearly as clever as mine?

This from the guy (oh, sorry, the "nuisance sock") who mocked me for saying enough with the "you're a fag" schtick?

We were having a conversation about the bullshit efforts conservatives are making to smear Obama as anti-Israel, not a conversation about interesting things that Jake Tapper has written lately. This may surprise you, but I don't especially follow his ouevre.
|
You don't especially follow Obama's ouevre either, if you've somehow missed the tens of times he's misrepresented the "100 years" statement.

And who still routinely uses it, even though it's clear that it makes a lot of us uncomfortable.

Jeffrey Goldberg, the guy who interviewed Obama, is slightly more charitable than I was (or not):
- Mr. Boehner, I'm sure, is a terribly busy man, with many burdensome responsibilities, so I have to assume that he simply didn't have time to read the entire Obama interview, or even the entire paragraph, or even a single clause. If he had, of course, he would have seen that Obama was clearly calling the Middle East conflict, and not Israel, a sore. Why, there's no one who would disagree that the Middle East conflict is a "sore," is there?
I have no doubt that Mr. Boehner will issue a correction to his press release in which he states the obvious, which is that Obama expressed -- in twelve different ways -- his support for Israel to me.
If he doesn't, however, I would, sadly, have to agree with my colleague, the less-forgiving Andrew Sullivan, who called Boehner's statement a "flat-out lie." In fact, I would add to Andrew's post, by calling Boehner's statement mendacious, duplicitous, gross, and comically refutable.

I am a very bad sock (although you all give passes to several people who do it much more frequently than me). My point certainly was not that I am better than Ty. I simply wonder whether Ty isn't moving down towards my very low level with this ageism.

Damn. Yet another thing learned from "Hogan's Heroes" proves to be Not Accurate.
Still, I am quite happy that Santa brought me the first season on DVD.

So, I'll ask you what I asked Hank (who took the alternative question instead) -- what did McCain mean?
And how long do we work on getting the experience of our soldiers in Iraq changed what it is today (The Big Red One enagaging in street battles in Sadr City) to having a presence where they can engage in Marlon Brando-Japanese chick romances a la Sayonara?
My take is that he was asked how long we should be there, and he snapped back a response intended to signal the resolve to be there as long as is necessary to get the (undefined) job done. He made the 100 years comment, after all, in the same time frame as the debate in California where he ripped into Mitt Romney about "timetables" and "guidlines" as being code words for "withdrawal."

Notwithstanding, Hank was right that Obama did not accurately represent what McCain specifically said.
