we're talkin' baseball
Meanwhile, the Houston Chronicle reported that Pettite is busy with choir practice at Deer Park Baptist Church. But not too busy for his offseason conditioning program, where he was joined Roger Clemens. hmmm.

Unless your Mom actually dated the 28 year old grandma, baltassoc's story still beats yours.

We have the same taste in watches. They are fantastic values, aren't they?

Is this irony? A watch - a clock you hang on your wrist - for "under $500" is a "fantastic value"?

"Denial" is apparently the name of a building on the Upper East Side.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Start by getting rid of a young left hander for an old left hander with a history of injuries.* Makes sense to me. Heck, so long as he goes to a National League team, who cares about losing the guy who has been the big-game pitcher for the Yanks over the last several years?
Here's a realistic article about the Pettite thing. http://www.nytimes.com/2003/12/12/sp...l?pagewanted=1
*Yes, Kevin Brown is a great pitcher. When he's healthy.

A watch, a piece of kinetic art that has more or less utility, depending upon the aesthetic of the wearer. One can be a bargain at $500 or an outrageous expense at $69.99. I'd imagine you'd be utterly baffled by my Patek Philippe.
But then, I can't begin to understand why you'd pay money for a two-wheeled death machine that leaves your hair and skin feeling gritty and bugs in your teeth. And just out of curiosity, how much do you suppose you've sunk into a bunch of stuff that you use to remove yourself from any place that has toilets and kitchens?

There is some disconnect in your mind that won't allow you to connect the words "watch," "value," and "under $500" (which is quite a broad range), but I assure you irony is not to blame.
Anyway, what's wrong with spending a little on a nice watch? It's not like you're plopping down $15,000 on a gawdy jewel-speckled Rolex. It's a couple hundred bucks on an understated, stylish watch that will last till the day you die and then some. How is that a bad thing?

Probably. I just can't DO those Roman numeral thingies.

The difference, I think, is that I don't buy the mink potscrubber or the jewel-encrusted tent peg. A good tent peg is almost a zenlike thing, but adding rubies around the top and then speaking of value seems . . . well . . . different.

You're probably right. "Value" has, in my warped and dim mind, a different meaning than the one you are likely applying here.

One more time (and I'm happy ESPN said it AFTER I already said it yesterday).
Vasquez is the Pettite replacement. And several years younger.
Brown is the Roger replacement. And several years younger.
I think our staff potentially got better - that being said, I'm all about loyalty to local sports heroes and would liked to have kept Andy around another 5 years - and have "46" join future Retirees "2", "22", and "42" on the Left field wall.
edited to add:
And actually, "EL Duque" was our big game pitcher - after Jimmy Key was our big game pitcher. Stop revising history.
