Thank you for reviving this usage. And now, a Pynchon moment:
 • One summer afternoon Mrs Oedipa Maas came home from a Tupperware party whose hostess had put perhaps too much kirsch in the fondue to find that she, Oedipa, had been named executor, or she supposed executrix, of the estate of one Pierce Inverarity, a California real estate mogul who had once lost two million dollars in his spare time but still had assets numerous and tangled enough to make the job of sorting it all out more than honorary. Oedipa stood in the living room, stared at by the greenish dead eye of the TV tube, spoke the name of God, tried to feel as drunk as possible. But this did not work.

See, Coltrane. This is the proper way to treat a newly appointed Grand Dame Admin.

Nothing passive about it. She's been suffereing from a swollen head ever since she ascended to management status. I fear for her associates if she ever makes partner.

Sadly, the '70s nostalgia craze has not died the natural death predicted for it in the mid-'90s when it started. Witness:

The Darkness.
My Morning Jacket --- it's like AM radio all over again.
The rise of sleaze-rock bands (Kings of Leon; Grandaddy).
Josh Rouse's "1972" concept album.
Robert Randolph.
"Are You Gonna Be My Girl," a stone-cold ripoff of "Lust for Life."
The longevity of "That '70s Show" when "Arrested Development" clung desperately to life.
Fortunately, flairs finally seem to be dying out. Thank God.

Jesus Christ, stop it--don't you realize that the 80s are next if the 70s revival dies? I swear that if lace-trimmed anklets with high heels come back in fashion I'm going to start beating the crap out of people on the street. In fact, I came perilously close this past weekend when I saw some 30something wearing purple jelly sandals right out of 6th grade--the only thing that saved her was that I didn't think it was polite to bitch-slap someone in front of her toddler.

Tell that to my manager. He wants at least 37 pieces at all times.

You can get jellies at the Urban Outfitter's website. I've already got my collection those plastic bracelets that suspciously look like O-rings.

Not yet. Jason Bateman made sure to kiss Gail Berman's ass when he was on the Daily Show a few weeks ago. They're not cancelled but they're not renewed either. He seemed, er, on edge about that. Not quite bitter. Yet.

For the love of God, RT, please just don't wear those with a black bra under a white lace shirt or with fingerless lace gloves. I'd like to see the Apocalypse put off for a while.
