I realize the cap would be to keep an owner or two in check, but that's always been the case in the other sports too. shit, I read that volleyball has ESPN ratings that rival regular season NHL games. Volleyball players aren't pulling 10 million.
Whose fault is it that a hockey player is making $10 million? Who signs the checks each week? Smaller cities not competing? Uh, tell that to Calgary.

As for cost certainty, the players have proposed a luxury tax arrangement -- if the Wings want to pay too much for Shannahan, a penalty is imposed, and the revenue generated by all the penalties are share among the teams.

Here's the underlying problem, though -- the players simply don't believe that the owners are losing money.

Why? Here's a hypothetical based upon the structure of a few teams floating around out there -- Not Bob Enterprises, Inc. owns the Podunkville Pissants, a Norris Division NHL team. The Pissants play in The Podunkville Palace, a facility owned and operated by Not Bob Enterprises, Inc. The Palace is also a venue for No Doubt concerts, monster truck events, and Promise Keeper rallies.

Not Bob's clever accountants tell him that there are tax advantages to having all of the expenses related to the Palace debited to the hockey team, but the hockey team doesn't get the credit for all of the profits the Palace makes on the beer I sell for $10 a cup at a Toby Keith "America! (Fuck Yeah!)" type concert. The numbers show that the team is losing money, yet Not Bob Entertainment, Inc. is making dough hand over fist.

This free flow of money allows the owner of Not Bob Enterprises, Inc. to pay for strippers and blow in an effort to seduce bn'b into an ass-fucking session.

BTW, I read this language in a dot.com company's IPO prospectus some time in October 1999.

I bought 100 shares.

The only thing missing from this thorough explanation was the Gwinky's "negotiation" with player reps Tkachuk, Hawerchuk and Konolwalchuk

If the blow hasn't been danced on too hard, she'll do it without the strippers.

I'm just saying....

This is a decent article that claims that owners' losses are overstated: http://www.forbes.com/free_forbes/2004/1129/124.html

I waved it around during my negotiation.

And what about poor Dave Andreychuk.

A friend of mine recently hooked up with the first guy she ever was attracted to (she was 12, he was 23 back then, now she's 28, he's 39). She said it was as good as she'd imagined. And she's been imagining for quite a long time.

Me, nope. There are two that I've fantisized about over the years, and I'd probably hop on a plane if either summoned me, but I've never had more than a kiss from either.
The guy I had a crush on when I was 14, I hooked up with at 30 years old. He was 33. Big strapping guy with white blond hair and HUGE brown eyes. Scottish. Everything was going well as we drank wine and he confessed he had a crush on me too back then, but I had been going out with his best friend (so we had both kept quiet about the mutual crush). He showed me a few photos he'd taken of his friend and I at a party at his house. (Weird seeing new pictures of yourself at 14).

Then we kissed and it was all very exciting. But then things went downhill. First, he began to smell like a grandfather. Not necessarily mine but someone's or something. I later asked what cologne he wore and found out it was Old Spice underarm deodorant. Ugh. Disgusting and so 70's!!

Next, he took his shirt off and his chest and arms had that look as if his muscles were atrophying. I mean, if he had a skinny burnout body like he did at 17, that would be o.k. But now, he just seemed to be, well, atrophying. Like his elbows were unnaturally pointy. Maybe b/c his skin was separating from his muscle/bone? Ewwwww.

The final straw was when I noticed the huge really ugly, faded tatoo on his too-white skin. That was it. I will never date a light skinned man again. They don't age well at all. Ewwwww.

No expectation of privacy for penguins, I guess, though I don't know why they'd want it. I didn't see any penguin-on-penguin ass-fucking or anything.

The Kelp Cam sucks.

Nasty ole, pasty-faced men. In law school, we had a guy who I swear had blonde hair, blonde eyebrows and eyelashes, and even blonde teeth. Everything the same shade. Ew. I called him Eraserface (behind his pasty white back).

Halle Berry? That's a nice chocolate color - perfect. She's not pasty at all.

......a male Halle Berry....mmmmmn.

When I was 23, I finally had sex with a girl I'd wanted to screw since the 7th grade. Just an unbelievable body. She was a year older than me. We were having drinks and sitting by the pool. It was about midnight. She spontaneously took off all of her clothes and jumped in the pool. I followed. We made out in the pool, and then headed to the bedroom (since the pool was in clear view of all of the people in the living room of the house) to fuck. We took the outside stairs to the second floor, completely naked. Apparently everyone was watching.

Did she live up to my expectations? She had a body like Eva Longoria, but bigger TITS. Seriously. Nuff said.

Did I live up to my expectations? Probably some of my worst fucking ever. I was too drunk and just couldn't believe my luck. I couldn't believe I was fucking this girl that I'd lusted after for 10 years. So, I guess I blew it. Too soon, that is.

If I were ever transferred to Edinburgh I'd turn gay quick (although I bet the ladies are equally beastly -- oh, and spare me the links to Scottish models). I mean, ugh, just look at these Scots from sports websites. Cover that shit up, Scotty-O's!!!
