Also try hot cocoa and peppermint schnapps.

Hot cider is yummy with dark rum in it too.
In Minnesota, cheap brandy is pretty much all you'll ever see in eggnog, but, then, people here soak cheap fish in lye until it's jellied and then eat it, so we may not have a lot of moral force to our food recommendations.

You could always turn the dial back a dozen years or so. It was easier to like Duke when the alternative was UNLV.

Dissent, strenously (hard enough to give myself a hemmorhoid).

It is never polite, proper or acceptable to like Duke. Vulgarian.

If he bleeds, I think you could only drink in his blood. You're kind of taking some liberties with the rest of your consumption.

1 Mateen Cleaves.

2 I loved UNLV. True story- I'm on the 7 A.M. Detroit to DC flight one morning. Looking through the Northwest magazine and there's an article about Tark. I glance off to the other side of the aisle and there is a dumpy bald guy with a towel over head. It was the man himself.

He got off the plane and the NW toadies starting offering him VIP crap. He said no thanks and just walked out to a cab. Recruiting visit I guess.

I thought I had a point about UNLV when I started this, but it turns out I don't. But I did like them as a program.

There was always a certain honesty about UNLV in those days. They didn't really pretend to be a school instead of a basketball program. Duke still hasn't fessed up in this regard.

Moderately amusing UNLV anectdote: in high school I used to play pickup games with Larry Johnson at a basketball camp (he ws a couple of years older and playing for UNLV at the time). Really nice guy who was a complete monster on the court. As one of the tall guys, I often was assigned to "guard" him. My only chance was to try to dart in front of him and steal a pass, because if the ball reached his hands, there was no way I was going to keep him from scoring. Using this method, I was usually able to keep him below 50 points a game (standard college 20 minute halves).

That's ok. I've been convinced anyway.

Take the Cougars and the points.

Which isn't a bad motto for the FB, but I digress.

Honesty and UNLV don't belong in the same sentence, even when that sentence is acknowledging that they were a semi-pro team. And the term "semi" is generous here.

I'm just saying they didn't pretend to be a school like Duke does.

Is Duke the king of producing b-ball players that perform below expectations in the pros? Christian Laetner, Grant Hill....ummmmm some others.

Well, Duke DOES have one. The only thing that separates UNLV from the Strip, IIRC, is McCarran Airport.
