I saw part of their set at ACL. They were a lot of fun, though I don't think that was the best venue to appreciate them. I felt like whatever drugs were in my system (mainly alcohol and secondhand pot smoke) weren't nearly designer enough.
The crowd at their set was pretty dedicated and energized, though.

FWIW, my apartment looks masculine, just a well-decorated masculine. (And no, that doesn't mean there are picture of cowboys up on the walls.)

It always sort of makes me laugh when anyone mentions "gay" they trot out every single last stereotype, of the overdecorated chintzy frilly Laura Ashley decorated co-op to of a flaming Queer Eye type flamboyant gay man.
Gay men like any other men come in all shapes and sizes and decorate in all kind of ways. Some live in sleek modernistic loft spaces, some in quite masculine country abodes, it isn't about feeding into a sterotype.

Retinol
Has anyone ever used Retinol and had a bad experience with it?
Recently, when getting my makeup done she slathered retinol on my face and it burned a patch of my skin above my eybrow.

Hey TM --
Today's Globe says:
- Red Sox executives Mike Dee and Sam Kennedy plan to visit Japan after the new year -- providing the Sox sign Matsuzaka -- to explore business options, though they may not be able to recoup $51.1 million. There aren't many who believe Scott Boras's claim that the Yankees net $21 million a year in profit from marketing related to Hideki Matsui -- certainly not the Yankee executives I spoke to -- but the Yankees do generate some income.

Matsui is like a demi-god in Japan. The Japanese Press Corps follow his every move. 21 mil might be a stretch but they definitely make a buck off of his presence/name.

I don't care which type genital one is attracted to, god bless either way, but I feel trapped in this world where the coltranes, thurgreeds and Shapeys will think less of me if I don't gay bash the effeminates like flower or whoever. I feel trapped to be a homophobe, to be honest.

If you were more of a man, you'd be able to get past that.

Yes, I've certainly gone over the top with that post. How dare I stifle the fag-calling hilarity of the board? I can see why this bothers you so much.
I realize (though, I note, not all casual readers of the boards would) that most or all of you are calling each other fags in the most enlightened, ironic sense of the word, but I sort of made a vow to myself, after years of living in Dallas (a.k.a. the bible belt) and hearing people make perfectly serious homophobic and derogatory statements and jokes that I wouldn't just sit by silently. If that means that once every 1000 or so times someone here calls someone else a fag I mention that I don't find the jokes funny, I'm not sure how I'm infringing on your enjoyment of the boards.
In answer to your question, no, calling something "gay" is not nearly as offensive to me as calling people "fucking fags". I guess I typically filter the jokes through whether my gay friends would appreciate (or even make) the joke. So calling TM's princess bed "gay" is not overly offensive to me. However if my gay friends came across a chat board where people spend 5 pages calling each other fags, fucking fags, faggots, even in a joking context, I don't think they'd want to hang out here or participate in the discussion. I think that sucks.
If you want to sit around calling each other fags, and it is really really amusing to you, fine. Be my guest. I just happened to mention (and I can't promise I'll never mention it again, though I think I'm fairly restrained in how often I point it out) that I don't find it funny.

I appreciate your point. I would like to be able to claim I am innocent of this, but I'm not. I slip far more often that I should and I will focus on this and make a concious effort to improve.
I apologize if I have offended you in the past.

I'm probably wonking here (hi Me!!!) but the use of the indefinite article here is an old inside joke that goes back to the day when ABBA inadvertantly referred to someone as "a fat." It was originally limited to fat references, but, like Topsy, it grew.
In other words, if it offends you then you are just being a naive. Or a stupid.

Not a Good Start
Just checked the box scores of the NFL games in progress. I can't believe this isn't a typo:
- Scoring Summary BUF - HOU
1st Quarter
12:21 BUF TD J.P. Losman passed to Lee Evans to the left for 83 yard gain (Rian Lindell made PAT) 7 - 0
6:35 BUF TD J.P. Losman passed to Lee Evans to the left for 83 yard gain (Rian Lindell made PAT)

reconsider?
ncs' point was that the gratuitous "fag" jokes from people whom she knows don't hate should stop. she doesn't find them funny.
on the other hand, one main function of an anon place like this is we share true inner fears, hopes and demons. We can get to know what other people are truly like, even if those revelations show blackened hearts.
I guess what I"m trying to say is since you admit you truly do hate homosexuals, you shouldn't hide your demons. It does us all good to see such bias manifest itself. It may be painful, but we are all wiser seeing just how much work there still remains to do.

The sad, sad, sad part of this is that these two runs aside, this was a totally winnable game. And yet, somehow, the Texans failed to do so.
