Am I the only one who hears the screams?

2. If you were in remission from a life-threatening disease, which, by the way, does not mean you are cured, don't you think you might just take a "fuck it, life is too short, and so is 1 hour for lunch" kind of attitude?

3. How do you know what she "cites" as her reasons? Whether she gets paid for her time off? Etc.
1. It is my friend's situation, not mine. My firm does NOT function that way. She DOES have to cover for her, and the woman's boss is quite agressive with giving my friend work.

2. Yes--but not to the extent I would fuck over other people for it.

3. That is what I am told.

As to number 2, trust me when I tell you that you have no fucking idea what you might do when faced with a life threatening illness.

Then that doesn't fit for timmies.

Does the word "nerd" remind anyone of the time that Joanie had a crush on Potside and nicknamed him "Dren"?

My guess is that most people would not lose sleep over someone younger and healthier having to answer the phone more often than she otherwise would.

Shouldn't we really blame anyone who buys the book? Or, to get to what NotBob was asking, is it worse to distribute a snuff film or knowingly pay to watch it?

This morning on Jim Rome's show he called O.J. "the worst man ever" and defied anyone to name someone worse, serial killers included, because they don't later rub it in the victim's family's face, the jury's face, and profit hugely from it.

I trust Nicole and Ron's family's can attach the proceeds to pay their civil verdict, and I hope Barry Scheck feels even slightly bad that he used the cache of his Innocence Project to secure O.J.'s acquittal.

Efficiency, darling. If I went back and reviewed/edited each post, I'd post about once a day. Do you really want that?

DO YOU?

Since I have been at my current law firm, there have been two attorneys and one secretary who have played the cancer card. They took off ginormous amounts of time, lots of it paid, running around getting cancer "treatments" and such. Then, in perhaps the ultimate cardsmanship, they all died. Now they never come to work.

Honestly, here in TCOTU, I am all cancer/tumored/LTI=life threatening illnessed out. Every firm I am at has people dealing with that on a personal level, or with their families.....it wears on you to the point where you sort of have to block it out to stay sane. I've had no less than 3 or 4 co workers I know drop dead suddenly for various reasons....you become desensitized and less human. I'm not sure what I'd do. deal with, I suppose.

I blame all participants in this market. You can't have one without the uh-uh-other.

Would I lose the argument with Jim Rome if I said Hitler?

Your check is in the mail.

I can assure you though, that there are some mighty prick-y ERISA lawyers out there. Generally though, not a bad bunch -- at least the ones I deal with.
